Welp. This is pretty painful to watch. Sad seeing such a talented team without a point guard (and knowing this will likely be the same problem next year). Ugh.

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Texas 12pm Sunday - BosCard - 11-14-2021

Great defense but offense is basically turnover or miss open 3.  Unfortunately this is how we played in big games last year.  Ugly offense with 3 point shooters playing very very tight.

25-25 at the half.

Couple of CalStars hoodies on kids in the upper right of the family section. Not sure if those would be recruits.

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Texas 12pm Sunday - TheFarm07 - 11-14-2021

After expanding our lead halfway through the quarter to 7 points, Texas goes on a 9-2 run to tie the game at 25 all.

Prechtel hits our first (and so far only) three pointer as we remain ice-cold from the field (6/21, 1/13). Fortunately, we are converting at a 80% clip with 15 FT opportunities to keep us in the game.

The Longhorns' aggressive defense has forced us into twelve turnovers with us looking a bit hurried and confused on offense, resulting in errant passes and sloppy mistakes.

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Texas 12pm Sunday - Card10Fan - 11-14-2021

Why is it that when we play teams with different styles than us, we allow them to ALWAY dictate the pace of play. Case in point this first half, no zone from Stanford, no press, nothing to change the tempo of the game to our favor. We need to play faster but always seem to let the other team dictate.

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Texas 12pm Sunday - BillBradley - 11-14-2021

We just need to hit a couple threes to open things up and help with spacing. Dribble penetration isn't working and resulting in way too many turnovers. Cam and Haley need to step up in second half. I think they will.

Time for some Emma-Nnopu defense…

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Texas 12pm Sunday - mbdude - 11-14-2021

WWilson had 15 minutes 1 layup. They took her off Harmon, missed open 3s, wasn't bringing ball up. May as well give Jana a chance

That pass should have gone to brink, not lacie

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Texas 12pm Sunday - Card10Fan - 11-14-2021

Tara has played Lacie WAY too much. She can’t handle the ball that well and has missed every shot she’s taken. Ugh. I would rather see Jump out there.

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Texas 12pm Sunday - martyup - 11-14-2021

Not sure why Tara didn't bring in Brink for that full court inbounding problem.  We had 2 seconds to get the ball past the mid-court line.  That was a cluster.

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Texas 12pm Sunday - TheFarm07 - 11-14-2021

We lead 40-35 after three quarters, but we are still struggling against the aggressive Texas defense; even advancing the ball past mid-court is a chore as the last thirty seconds showed.

We are 2/19 from long range but 14/17 from the FT line is saving us.

It's a physical game out there with fouls, hard hits and collisions.

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Texas 12pm Sunday - martyup - 11-14-2021

Obviously our shooters are feeling the pressure of this game.  They are missing wide open 3 pointers that they normally nail.  Need to relax and just play ball.

Jones is a turnover machine.

Wilson need to come out also. Not helping

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Texas 12pm Sunday - BostonCard - 11-14-2021

Texas has taken a 46-44 led.  As a team, we have 4 assists and 18(!) turnovers.

Dear god, please let our shots start to fall. I would give anything to shut this Texas coach up.

It’s games like this that I lament the fact that we have not been able to sign an elite point guard.

Our turnover percentage is 32%.  Let that sink in for a minute.  One out of every three possessions is ending in a turnover.

Yet several posters think our guard recruiting has been just fine. This game is ever telling.
