Delaire is really good but sometimes he thinks he's great; doesn't move the ball, tries difficult shots, misses and tries them even more, and then gets disappointed and doesn't stay connected.

I am legitimately impressed by how bad we are playing. This is Stanford/Utah football level of bad, against a middling WCC team.
Really looking forward to the Stanford/Texas WBB game.

Reynaud even with a corner 3. This guy is reallllly good.... even if he got picked while dribbling. To no avail, however. Santa Clara playing their game of the year.

I really enjoy watching Reynaud play, the kid is a talent and looks like he could be a long term force. Freshman, right?. Ingram looks pretty good as well.
I don't think SCU will continue to shoot 66%. They've had a lot of luck on their side. 38-64 with 15:07 remaining.
Stanford is up on rebounds 21-20, but they should be way up, IMO. SCU has 24 pts off of turnovers, Stanford leading 14-8 in turnovers.

At least it appears that Ingram has an outside shot.

On what planet is zone defense the solution when your opponent is killing you with three pointers?

In the NBA, that sort of play where Ingram jumps into the flying defender would not have led to free throws.

I laughed out loud. Thanks I needed that. I don't get Haase at all. Player rotations and offensive schemes are mind-boggling. Solid defense is usually the strong point.

Reynaud is 7/8, 8 rebounds in 17 minutes, 16 points. Lots of fun to watch. Stanford has outrebounded SCU 9-0 last five minutes or so.

Yes, to the extent it's an "unnatural move." So no more James Harden or Trae Young lurching or jumping into defenders, or sticking a foot out, to draw fouls. They were the worst offenders and lived on it

Sorry, my prior reply was meant to respond to this. Yes, NBA tightened the rules this year

As Mick noted, that has changed this year, and that sort of crap is no longer going to be tolerated (I hope, I guess we will see how it’s called).

I was at the Leavey Center as a member of the Sixth Man Club when Stanford got clipped by Santa Clara in 2004-05. I got home to see a post on the old HoopsBoard, referring to then-head-coach Trent Johnson as "another Buddy Teevens". That thread, as I recall, set off a bit of a row. They weren't wrong though. They were just two coaches ahead of their time.
The bus ride back to Stanford, I still remember how quiet (and dark) it was. That bus was quiet AF, but at least it was almost full. I can't imagine that will be the case tonight.

I remember that, 86-76 loss, sandwiched by losses to Louisville and Michigan State. I really liked Hernandez, Grunfeld, Little, Robinson, Haryasz. Fun team. SCU was 5-2 going into that game with a win over North Carolina the prior week. they weren't deep, but they had three really good players, Doron Perkins, Travis Niesen and Kyle Bailey. Pretty good PG in Brody Angley.

I went to that arena once when Stanford was not that great the prior year, but I knew people that were Santa Clara alums. They thought Santa Clara would win, but Stanford had this new PG he was AMAZING. It was then that I got to see how one player can really change everything. He was scoring and dishing like no PG I had seen at Stanford. The PG was, of course, Brevin Knight.
In hoops it really can all switch around with just one quality future NBA player. Well, one quality player and a solid coach. :(
Maybe next year.

Santa Clara had a pretty good point guard by the name of Steve Nash back then.

I believe Cal had Jason Kidd, as well. First college basketball game at the new San Jose Arena was SCU vs. Cal with Nash vs. Kidd. 14,000+ fans. Much fun.
Really liked watching Knight and Nash play against each other both in college and in the NBA.

Lol...O'Connell fouled by two different SC players on that "blocked shot."
Officiating didn't affect the outcome of this game, but it's been bad. Evergreen comment, I know.
