Here’s Wilber’s take on Wiclox:
https://www.mercurynews.com/2021/11/15/washington-needs-a-head-coach-our-deep-dive-into-the-search-process-and-potential-candidates/
Quote: Justin Wilcox: Now in his fifth season at Cal, Wilcox has worked for Tedford (in Berkeley) and Petersen (in Boise) and for Wisconsin’s Paul Chryst, one of the most respected coaches in the game. He also ran Washington’s defense during the Steve Sarkisian era. He had Cal poised to ascend in the North when COVID hit — and it hit the Bears harder than any other program. Wilcox is a vastly better coach than his record indicates, and we presume both Petersen and Tedford would vouch for him. (Given his background on the defensive side, he would need a detailed plan for fixing UW’s offense.) Fans of the other Pac-12 teams have no idea how difficult it is to win consistently at Cal. And after his latest frustrations over COVID protocols, perhaps Wilcox would be ready to leave.
The other names on the list are: Dave Aranda (Baylor head coach), Billy Napier (from Louisiana-Lafayette), Kalani Sitake (BYU), and Jonathan Smith (Oregon State). Between those choices, I think Wilcox would be the best outcome for Stanford; the other choices would be better at Washington, and you can probably count on Cal to screw up the search for Wilcox’ successor.

My guess would be that only Napier and Wilcox might be willing to take it. Aranda has better options, and I think Sitake and Smith kind of like where they are. Money does talk, but it would probably not motivate Smith or Sitake as much as it might other coaches. If they leave their current posts they would be burning emotional bridges that can't be rebuilt.

Napier turned down Auburn and South Carolina last year and has lived his entire life in the South except for one year coaching at ASU.
Sitake has a great gig and is under no pressure to move, but he's been actively interested in a better job which is why his name keeps popping up whenever a position opens. Much like Chris Petersen he's in a great situation but it doesn't mean he doesn't harbor greater ambitions if the fit is right. Do not discount him at all. Unlike Smith he hasn't denied interest but only said "I'm focused on next week's game" repeatedly.
Bigger issue for UW is that they may be competing with USC for Sitake's services.

With Seattle Seahawks now at 3-7 and Russell Wilson getting older, could Pete Carroll, even at his age, be looking to return to the college ranks at UW or U$C?

Didn't work for Walsh, partially worked for Robinson. Carroll would need to get more money than Stanford is paying Shaw to go 3-9.
It would be great fun if Harball's winds up at SC. LOL.
