With recruitment for the Class of 2023 just in its infancy stage, the PAC 12 is leading the way and starting to pick up
where they left off from their dominant 2022 collective recruiting class:

That's almost half of the 11 from the Top 38 who have committed so far.

For better or worse, that's not really the type of player Tara recruits, trains, or tolerates. But I agree there are virtues to that kind of player.

I can't speak for players who were at Stanford when I was in elementary school, but in the last two decades the closest to that type of player I can think of was Carrington, who I loved, but I also felt like kind of succeeded at Stanford sometimes in spite of, rather than because of, Tara's system. And she was very much the exception rather than the rule.

Just watched segments of Stanford 2023 commit Nunu AGARA's Hopkins team in action:

High School Girls Basketball: Hopkins vs. Rosemount - YouTube

Contrary to her SG designation in ESPN Hoopgurlz, AGARA plays starting PF for Hopkins and assumes the C position when starting C Maya NNAJI (Arizona 2022 commit) gets a breather. She is most likely around 6'1 (and not 5'11 per ESPN Hoopgurlz), and she is very active inside the lane and can shoot the midrange.

This Hopkins HS team is teeming with D1 talent:

Great to see our commits rise in the rankings at least from ESPN's most recent ranking, where Ogden was 12th and Agaru 38th. Question for those of you who follow HS recruiting closer than I do: is this just noise between recruiting services, or are our commits, especially Agaru, simply getting better faster than their peers? Or is there any chance their commitments to the current national champion possibly boosted how evaluators assess them? (One of Muffet's recent accusations was that once a recruit commits to UConn they suddenly jump in the recruitment rankings.) Just curious. Thanks!
