Already done!
FYI if you are an alum, please copy Howard Wolf who is the Alumni Association liaison to the University.
Per a source on another board who is close to him, Howard gets what is going on.
Having had a 30-minute zoom call with Howard about Muir, I can emphatically attest to this. He also knows how & where to raise issues within the University

Strikes against Muir:
First major NCAA sanctions
Varsity blues scandal
Cut 11 varsity sports, then reversed himself
$12+ million budget deficit
Overpaid Shaw
Hired Haase

Just wanted to point out that I’m incredibly pleased with the hiring of Esky to succeed 9. I have no idea if this happened because of or in spite if Bernie. :)

Lost Director's Cup for first time in like . . . ever. (Though I put this near bottom of your list).

Meh. Given the pandemic and everything that happened, coming in second in the Director's cup didn’t bother me. As I recall, we swept the weird ESPN cup, but it all goes to show how arbitrary this stuff is.
If it had been a different AD (say Bowlsby), it wouldn’t be much of a ding.

Brilliant. Howard Wolf was a class below me at Stanford. Good guy, very committed.

Marquess told Bernie to hire him.

And Muir listened.
I think there are plenty of reasons that Muir was not a good hire, but when he has made good decisions, even if it was on the advice of others, he should get credit for it.

I agree, but he doesn't deserve the same level of credit for that kind of hire as for someone he hires where he leads the search. And in no way does a half-dozen good hiring decisions overcome the litany of other issues outlined earlier in this thread.
My principal argument to Howard on why Bernie has to go is that a lot of damage has been done to the relationship between the Athletic Department and its donor base, and he can't repair the damage because he caused a lot of it and he's no longer trusted.

I mean, if you scroll up, you will see all the reasons I put forth that Muir should be be gone. I mean, he failed the first commandment of a major department administrator at Stanford: thou shalt not allow scandals on thy watch, and he allowed two.
But I don’t understand the desire to minimize the things he has done well, and he has done a few of those, including hiring Esper. In any personnel decision, the decision will rarely be unambiguous (except maybe Wlat; I have yet to hear anyone tell me a reason he should have been retained). But that decision should be made lining up the positives and the negatives. In Muir’s case, the negatives outweigh the positives, IMHO, even if one gives him full credit for Esper.

Nine casts a large shadow, and I’m good with that.

I've never met him but have had several email exchanges with him over the years and he's always thoughtfully replied to the emails I have sent. And I am a small time donor to both the AD and the University.

May be early but recruiting is very good.
Baseball America has several stories on both the team for 2022 and the 2022 class which I’ll write more about in January.
