RE: Stanford Baseball - slide - 01-18-2022

nice video from PG California.  not sure of lyft or not, but PG ranks his fastball in the 99.46 percentile.

(1) Perfect Game California on Twitter: "Latest @StanfordBSB commit for the 2023 Class, Ryan Speshyock out of Dos Pueblos HS. Physical 6'1"/ 205 pound righty w/ low 90's FB that plays well up in the zone. Mid 70's breaking ball and low 80's CH. @SoCalGiants @AlphaMovementBB @PG_Scouting https://t.co/YqFfNFBcec" / Twitter

local paper:

111 strikeouts in 63 innings for a SO -- not too bad

I'm liking the dynamic leg kick on the follow-through. Hope they let him keep doing it.

Does anyone have any insight on the Karbach Round Rock Classic next month?

The press release from last August:

Quote:Peak Events, LLC, in partnership with the city of Round Rock and the Round Rock Express, announce that the 2022 Round Rock Classic will return to Dell Diamond on February 25 - 27. The 3rd annual event will host the Arkansas Razorbacks, Stanford Cardinal, Indiana Hoosiers, and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns.

The schedule for the 2022 Round Rock Classic will begin Friday, Feb 25 at 1:00pm with Louisiana facing Stanford followed by a 7:00pm matchup between Arkansas and Indiana. Day two begins on Saturday, Feb 26 at 12:00pm with Indiana taking on Louisiana followed by a 6:00pm start for Stanford and Arkansas. The final day for the Classic starts with a 12:00pm first pitch between Indiana and Stanford with the Classic finale scheduled to begin at 6:00pm between Arkansas and Louisiana.

RE: Stanford Baseball - Papa John - 01-27-2022

According to d1baseball.com, Arkansas is preseason #2 and Stanford is #7, while Indiana and Louisiana are unranked.

Stanford played in the inaugural Round Rock Classis in the forgettable, aborted 2020 season and went 0-3, losing to Houston, Texas Tech and Tennessee. I think someone on this Board attended the 2020 event (oman?), but maybe I'm confusing it with another Stanford athletic event in TX.

The RRC website says that it is "a sister event of the Frisco College Baseball Classic."

And for those who didn't already know, Round Rock is about 15 miles north of Austin.

Congrats to Tommy.

Esquer seems to believe if it ain’t broke, don’t break it.

Teddy Cahill of Baseball America says Brock Jones will be the Player of the Year.

Quote:Teddy Cahill: Brock Jones, OF, Stanford. Jones is one of the most dynamic players in the nation. He hit 18 home runs and stole 14 bases last season while helping the Cardinal reach Omaha.

RE: Stanford Baseball - BobK - 02-15-2022

Well there's a zoom tonight. I'll be on it. Too late to sign up

RE: Stanford Baseball - BobK - 02-16-2022

Fun zoom last year with good info. I’ll post a bit at a time as I can

Sophs will play a bigger role than one might have guessed. Many had no Sr HS year with the pandemic and limited if any fall practice at Stanford as Frosh. This was pointed out when Esquer said the staring 1B. It will be Soph Carter Graham.

RE: Stanford Baseball - BobK - 02-16-2022

Cody Jensen is back and healthy now. However Frosh Braden Montgomery has hit 99 and could be both the closer and a position player

RE: Stanford Baseball - BobK - 02-16-2022

Grad transfer Joe Lomuscio is quite an addition. He can play all three outfield positions. Of course Park, Jones and probably Montgomery will be playing Left to Right

The starters vs Fullerton

Others in line are Dowd and Dixon

RE: Stanford Baseball - JJJ - 02-16-2022

Thanks BobK! Good stuff!

RE: Stanford Baseball - BobK - 02-17-2022

Looks like Park in Right and Cobb in Left to start.

RE: Stanford Baseball - Phogge - 02-17-2022

Bay Area preview in this morning’s Chron. As usual they left out the Gators. Feature on Jones and Cal’s outfielder.

Spike - Spike - 02-18-2022

Will this weekend games be sold out?
