RE: WBB: Stanford @ Colorado 6pm Friday - Card10Fan - 01-14-2022

The worst 6 minute stretch I’ve seen from our team this year. What a terrible start to the game. No one looks focused or locked in. Lucky we’re not down 15+ already.

This game "looks like cheese but smells like barf."

10 tos between Jones, Wilson, lexie

We need to drive the ball! Quit passing it around the perimeter - leading to a turnover

RE: WBB: Stanford @ Colorado 6pm Friday - TheFarm07 - 01-14-2022

We are losing 8-15 because we cannot take care of the basketball, we committed 13(!) turnovers in the first ten minutes.

We knew Colorado's defense was aggressive, this should not surprise us. We need to protect the ball better, Tara has already started sending out bench players, even without foul trouble, so you can tell she is trying to find a solution and/or send a message to the starters that these mistakes are not tolerated.

Most of the Buffaloes' points have come off fast breaks from live ball turnovers. I think besides the first four points by Colorado, our half court defense is not too bad. It's hard to tell since they have so many chances.

What was that?  I'm mistaken, but Tara?  I thought you'd have a great plan.
Your players are NOT prepared.

Despite that horrific 1st quarter, they're only down 7 points.
Hopefully, they can adjust to Colorado's pressure defense....

This is the Texas game all over again.  How can we be so completely unprepared for the Colorado defense. It's exactly what they did last year.  They know our offense and simply how to stop it.

Both the men’s and women’# teams need a point guard who can break pressure.

RE: WBB: Stanford @ Colorado 6pm Friday - martyup - 01-14-2022

Wilson is starting to figure out that she can take the ball to the hoop off the dribble.  This will open up other players for her to pass to.

First half nearly over and neither Brink nor Jones on the scoreboard yet.

RE: WBB: Stanford @ Colorado 6pm Friday - mbdude - 01-14-2022

Don't help were missing gimmes

RE: WBB: Stanford @ Colorado 6pm Friday - martyup - 01-14-2022

Maybe at halftime our team will wake up and realize that Colorado wants to take their lunch money.  Time to play like champions instead of chumps.

RE: WBB: Stanford @ Colorado 6pm Friday - joemontes - 01-14-2022

OK, only down by 4 at the half (24-28) despite that 1st quarter mess.

Very disappointed with JONES who seems to be NOT focused
and is definitely NOT aggressive.

RE: WBB: Stanford @ Colorado 6pm Friday - 81alum - 01-14-2022

This is always what JR Payne teams do.  I think when we lost to her Santa Clara team we scored 30 some points for the whole game, with nearly as many turnovers as points.

The refs have something to do with it too--they are letting a lot go, and that favors Colorado.

Here is the good news.  After 13 turnovers in the 1st quarter, we had 2 turnovers in the 2nd.  And we actually "won" the second quarter 16-13.

Nice to see Jana getting floor time.  Tara is searching for ball handlers.

Shocking that Jones doesn't have a point.

We can still win this game, but we will become more fatigued by the 4th quarter than Colorado, so we can't expect a big come-from-behind push at the end.

RE: WBB: Stanford @ Colorado 6pm Friday - M T - 01-14-2022

If they're jumping the passing lanes, why aren't we faking the pass & getting a backdoor cut?

I sometimes have to wonder if these officials really think they see the fouls they call.
Or they just blow the whistle and hope the replay will show something that looks like a foul.

RE: WBB: Stanford @ Colorado 6pm Friday - mbdude - 01-14-2022

I thought Stanford committed a few fouls that went uncalled

RE: WBB: Stanford @ Colorado 6pm Friday - BobK - 01-14-2022

Agree with mbdude. It could be worse on the foul calls

RE: WBB: Stanford @ Colorado 6pm Friday - martyup - 01-14-2022

Hollingshed and Miller both have 3 fouls.

RE: WBB: Stanford @ Colorado 6pm Friday - BillBradley - 01-14-2022

Hopefully this is going to work out. If we can keep them in the 50's we can still beat them. Our offense will get going.

I pin MOST of what has happened with the turnovers on 2 things:
1) They are taking away the pass to the wings and we don't seem to know how to handle that! Most of the time we initiate at the high post, but we've hardly ever done that this game. Why? They are also taking away the dribble handoff and we've seemingly forgotten how to go back door.
2) Haley and Lexie's decision making has been awful. Dribbling into traffic, making passes that aren't open. Ugh. Worst half from them all year.

Cam can take this game over, but we quit going to her. I thought Fran did a nice job too. Let's go big and pound it inside and play inside out.

RE: WBB: Stanford @ Colorado 6pm Friday - mbdude - 01-14-2022

Lexie not having a good game. No fgs 4 tos. Some really poor passes
