The first turnover, though a ill advised pass, as it was through traffic, I get, as she was trying to pass to her teammate as they headed to the basket.
The second one was a real head-scratcher. Just inbounding the ball with no Utah defender in sight and it looked like the pass was just off the mark; those are the really infuriating ones

We lead 19-17 after one quarter. As expected with two high scoring offenses, both teams are shooting better than 50%, with Utah at 60% right now.
We survived Oregon State's first quarter offensive onslaught on Wednesday, hopefully we can tighten on defense as we did a couple days ago.
We have five players who have scored so far with Brink and Lexie still scoreless right now.

Tara saw that and yanked her right away. Also gave Lexie some pine time after she looked a bit overamped. You can do those sort of things when you're as deep as we are.

We're getting quite a mix of great Haley and bad Haley today. Several pretty assists and baskets, but some head scratching turnovers, unnecessary one on one, and missed free throws

We lead 41-31 at halftime.
We did better on defense for a while, but Utah went on a 8-0 run near the end of the quarter to keep it within striking distance.
We are distributing the ball well, with all five starters scoring at least six points each and five bench points.
Utah has turned the ball over twelve times, but they are still shooting the ball very well (50% from the field and 57% from 3-pt range), luckily they've only attempted seven long range shots, so we've only given up twelve from afar.

We lead 67-50 after three quarters. Utah scored the most in a quarter so far with 19, but we extended our lead thanks to a 26-point output in the third.
Brink, after making a nifty move to start the second half to score the first basket, picked up two quick fouls, one on each end, forcing her to the bench. But she did have a quick drive in the second quarter from the high post to score.
Anyway, we've been benefitting from 16 Utah turnovers and we've gotten some easy points on the other end from them and from our rebounding.

We win 91-64 as we extended our lead to thirty points allowing Tara to rest/protect her starters and key players and give our bench playing time and experience midway through the fourth quarter.
This game underscores our incredible depth as our five starters plus Belibi off the bench scored in double figures and Jump was one point away from being the seventh:
- Brink "only" had 10 points, but she had 7 rebounds and 6(!) blocks
- Jones despite having four turnovers and four fouls was an efficient 7/10 from the field
- Lacie had 10 points too. She doesn't need to score a lot given everyone else on the team, but if she can score in the high single digits, it will make teams less likely to double up on someone else, allowing us to exploit mismatches elsewhere
- Lexie had 15 points to lead the team along with Jones; she was 3/6 from three point range, but only 1/5 from short range. Would love to see her finish a couple more of the shorter range shots. Was best tonight from the FT line - 4/4
- Wilson had 11 points; she may not have the scoring prowess of Kiana, but some of her shots - the pull-up and the drive was Williams-esque, beautiful to watch. She also had 6 assists to ZERO turnovers
- Belibi had 10 points along with 3 steals; she has really come on strong the last couple weeks, providing another capable inside scorer whenever Brink is resting and sometimes when she's not. When the two of them are on the floor together and are in sync, it's a sight to behold
- Jump had 9 points off of 3/7 long range shooting. Great to see her line up and nail long range baskets; a quick three pointer can really deflate an opponent
- Iriafen only played a few minutes at the end, but her steadiness around the basket, already with experienced moves to get a better look at the shot is so encouraging to watch, especially when you remember she's still a freshman who's only played limited time
The only offense blemish was that we were 7/14 from the FT line.
Defensively, Utah made eight three-point shots shooting 42% from long range, but they only scored 64 points. Their interior shooting was worse (11/33) and we forced them into more of those shots, rather than their specialty long-range ones. We also stole the ball away from 10 times, contributing to 20 turnovers. McFarland was able to get 11 FT opportunities, so Tara will want to improve our interior D without fouling as much.

Great summary Farm. We shot 57% and held them to 39%. Our defense was SO much better than the last time we played them. It was evident in how we played the three point line. Their 3 point percentage was still high, but they just could not get shots off and had to settle for what they don't do best--attack the paint.
I at first thought that we had improved on turnovers, but we had 12 the first time we played them and 12 this time too. Jones is still having her issues there. Sometimes I think she plays too casually--those inbounds passes that become turnovers are really inexcusable, and Tara sat her immediately.
Anna Wilson's 6 assist to 0 turnovers comes after 3 assists to 0 turnovers vs. Oregon State and 7 assists to 0 turnovers vs. USC. That is 16 assists to 0 turnovers for Wilson the last three games. Astounding.
I agree that having 7 and nearly 8 players in double digits is turning us into a Hydra that is impossible to defend. Just before the mass substitutions in the last few minutes we had 5 double digit scorers on the floor at the same time. Try sagging off of that!
