Article on ESPN ranking the top 25 players in the final 4 [SEE LINK AT END OF THIS POST] -- Has Boston as #1, Haley as #2 and Cam as #3. Bueckers comes in at #4 and Van Lith at #5. Of the 25, 7 are Stanford, each other team with 6. In a bit of stat analysis on this ranking, for what the analysis is worth, which may be not much -- you get the following:
Sum of player list on ranking // players ranked/ sum divided by number of players ranked
South Carolina -- 64 // 6 ranked in top 25 // average rank of listed players = 10.7
Stanford -- 88 // 7 ranked in top 25 // average = 12.7
U Conn -- 81 // 6 ranked // average = 13.5
Louisville -- 92 // 6 ranked // average = 15.3
This seems to suggest that South Carolina has the strongest group of players, then Stanford, then U Conn, and well behind, Louisville. I do think that Louisville is the weakest team.
If you just limit each team to the same number of players, 6 each (dropping off Stanford's 7th player (Hannah at #24), then Stanford's total is 64 with the same average as South Carolina.
If you just look at the top 10 players on the list, both Stanford and U Conn have 3 players, the other two teams have 2, as follows
South Carolina #1, #8 -- sum 9 --> ave 4.5
Stanford #2, #3, #6 -- sum 11 --> ave 3.4
U Conn #4, #9, #10 -- sum 23 --> ave 7.7
Louisville $5, #7 -- sum 12 --> ave 6.0
Which suggests Stanford as the strongest, maybe. Probably not all that predictive, but to me as a stat nerd, interesting to contemplate

Louisville may well be the weakest team on paper and on the court. But I suspect that other semifinal will be an absolute dog fight - two scrappy teams going hard all game long! South Carolina should win, but would anyone be shocked if Louisville pulled the upset?
P.S. Looks like UConn is favored by 1.5 points now. At least that what it looks like per BR article.

I think your first calculation is a bit skewed as Stanford has 7 and USC only has 6. If you just take their top 6, Stanford and USC are tied with your calculation, plus Stanford has another player on the list in addition.
I think maybe looking at it from the best player being given 25 points to the 25th player being given 1 point, and summing them up is potentially a better way to sum up the talent. In this case, Stanford comes out on top slightly over USC.
Stanford: 94
USC: 92
UConn: 75
Louisville: 64

Good point, one can do it either way. Note that I did do the calculation with only the top 6 for each team -- see above, gives Stanford and USC the same number in my version of the calculation (1 to 25 vs 25-1 approach), but yes, then Stanford has one more player. No matter how one parses this thing, the message is the same -- that Stanford is just barely the deepest and richest team in terms of talent. The question is -- how right are the ESPN "experts."

Just read the "Ok-Let's Move on-What does it take to beat Stanford" thread on the Boneyard (UConn chatboard)

Very interesting to read the UConn fans' perspective on the game. Basically, they see it as a serious challenge, not fully confident that UConn can pull it off, but think it can be done if . . . A lot of respect for the Stanford team and players. My sense is that the fans posting there see Stanford as a very slight favorite, but they also have a lot of faith in the UConn players. BTW, one of the posters quoted 81Alum's preview that begins this Cardboard thread. Commented positively on the quality of the analysis!
In a way, reading this makes me feel a bit more positive about our chances. They are concerned, we are concerned. . . We have a shot!

She's really good for sure. She definitely has the ability to put it on the floor, but it's not where she's most dangerous. A majority of her points come from catch and shoot action. No doubt she could get a couple buckets on pull-ups or attacking the basket if it's there, but she's not going to get 20+ that way. She's only made 46 2-point baskets in her 23 games this year, and probably some of those were also catch and shoot. She's only shot 30 ft's all year. Most of her points come from her 3's. She has to be one of the best catch and shoot players in the country if not the best. Better than Hannah Jump IMO if we are looking for a comparison.
Here's a video of her highlights when she absolutely went off against Tennessee for 25. This is what we can't have happen.

I agree with comments of Bill B. and Joe M. I was going to post similar. Also, I think Tara starts the normal 5, but will not be surprised if we see a fair amount of 2 posts in varying combinations on the court. There are several advantages for us in doing so. Tara started doing this toward the end of conference season and in the tournament. I believe that she planned doing so to have lineups ready for games like this. Joe is right and can't emphasize enough - Haley is most difficult match up on both teams. She is the only one with the size, mobiility, and skills to dominate at any position unless they double team her. I suspect CT will tend to pack it in and try to prevent feeds to Brink, taking chances on our outside shooting. I want to see us with red hot shooting and blow CT out early dooing so.
You have to pick So.Carolina in the other game. They are really good, have been #1 virtually all year if not all year, and most believe that they have the best player. Louisville is also considered the weakest team in the FF. However, Louisville plays excellent defense and SC is know to go into funks offensively, so who knows? Might see an upset, but smart money still on SC>

Yes, interesting and informative comments on the CT website. I believe that they recognize that this Stanford team is as talented or better than theirs compared to past match ups where CT clearly the talent advantage. But CT's team this year is really, really good, so it's a match up of two terrific teams. It will be a fun game to watch. I want to see Tara keep extending her lead in Wins over Geno!

TheFarm07 - 03-30-2022
Just looking at some of the box scores from UConn's games this season and the results showed they are vulnerable to a formidable post player:
Aliyah Boston (SC): 22 pts (10/19 FG%), 15 rebounds (7 o-boards)
Elissa Cunane (NC State): 18 pts (8/13 FG%), 9 rebounds
Sedona Prince (Oregon): 14 pts (6/9 FG%), 5 rebounds off the bench
With Juhasz out, they don't have much depth in the post with just Olivia Nelson-Ododa and Aaliyah Edwards. I am sure Geno will try to get Cam in early foul trouble, but if she can stay out of foul trouble, we can flip that strategy and see if we can get them in foul trouble and attack the paint on the offensive end with not just Brink, Belibi and Iriafen in the low post but drives from Lexie and Haley too.
RE: WBB: Stanford vs UConn Friday 6:30 pm Pac -

Agreed that Cam needs to play maximum minutes. However, I like Kiki's chances up against Nelson-Ododa too. Also, Nelson-Ododa is pretty foul prone herself. Perhaps Tara will game plan to go after her to get her into foul trouble. That would entail both Cameron and Fran posting her up.
