Stanford wins, 8-4!
Didn't see the whole game, but Stanford's SS Crampton really impressed with a backhand snag of a really hard hit ball and then laying down a soft little bunt to drive in a run. Yes, there was a bad error but Stanford's defense was a net plus.
From what I've seen, Texas State is certainly capable of having good pitching, fielding and hitting against Stanford. No idea how the pitching situation looks for Stanford or Texas State.

Crampton was the PAC-12 defensive player of the year for a reason! Fielding percentage of .979, 21 double plays turned, and some incredible highlights.

What the hell happened with UCLA? The NCAA scoreboard showed Auburn 9 UCLA 0 in the 6th inning and it was suspended.
Clearly, UCLA has Auburn right where they want them, down 9, right?
Oregon is out.
UCLA looks headed out.
Arizona must beat Ole Miss twice to advance to Super Regional.
Oregon State must beat Vandy to advance to Super Regional.
Stanford must beat Texas St. to advance to Super Regional.
Only 6 out of the 64 teams in the tournament went 3-0, with Ole Miss possibly becoming the 7th.
So at least 9/16 and possibly 10/16 regional winners will have had to play an extra game to win their regional.

Down 3-2, Oregon State puts up 4 in B5 to take 3-6 lead over Vandy as they play in T6.
Arizona down 5-3 to Ole Miss in B4
You can watch Maryland vs. UConn on ESPNU at 7pm ET. The winner of this game will be going to Stanford if Stanford beats Texas St.

Oregon State won 7–6.
The 3 seeded teams playing now are all losing.
So far, 10 seeded teams have made it to the super regionals.
Stanford vs Texas State is the only game yet to start.

Pressure cooker game. Tied going into the 9th.
Since nobody seems to want to use this thread, I'm closing it.

Why did we shut this down? I think this thread was for the non-Stanford games? I've temporarily opened it back up to the extent people want to keep the Stanford thread separate. If folks prefer all CWS in one thread, let me know, and we can close it back down.

Haskins, in the lineup for Graham and playing 2B, is a freshman with 6 AB this season prior to this regional.
True, but Haskins is also 3 for 9 with a double and a HR, slugging .778.
JJJ, you were prescient!

Of significance also is that Drew Gilbert, their cleanup hitter and center fielder was ejected and therefore will miss the next game. For the same reason so will the pitching coach. Tennessee was behind 8-2 when these people were ejected.

I like the Bill Laimbeer jaw drop at the end.

Not that I'm rooting for Texas, but they were down 7-2 after 6 innings and facing elimination, only to come back to win on a walk-off single, 8-9.

The way Tennessee is clobbering ND today, it doesn't look like Gilbert is terribly missed.

With...
- Notre Dame knocking off #1 Tennessee
- UConn winning Game 1 vs. #2 Stanford
- Auburn winning Game 1 vs. #3 Oregon State
- Oklahoma about to take down #4 VT
The Top 4 seeds in the tournament may not make the CWS.
RE: NCAA BASEBALL TOURNEY -

#5 seed has made the CWS
#6 and #7 seeds were knocked out last week
#8 seed is in a struggle with Texas
Home field is overrated when playing another very good team

Auburn pushes Oregon State out of contention. Stanford is going to have three SEC West teams with them on their side of the CWS bracket: Arkansas who they'll play in the first game, Auburn, and Ole Miss, who went south to their super regional at Southern Miss and swept the series without giving up a run.
On the other side of the bracket are Notre Dame, and mutual rivals Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas A&M.
