Is it Sunken Diamond or Oracle? Flemming refers to Alex Williams as Alex Wood.

Mirror image of yesterdays start, I could do with this not ending up a 1 run game though...

Bowser homers to give us 6 in the inning and 8 over the first two innings. Just gotta take advantage of the lead.

Pancer out after 3.1 innings, giving up 1 run and 1 hit. I guess we are going to talk about Bruno now.

Phew. Park able to keep his focus and get the third out with the snowcone catch.

End of six and Stanford is still up 8-2. A few insurance runs would be nice, given that we know UConn can put up big innings.

Quinn Matthews in for the seventh, which he retired in order (on 9 pitches) Will we have him pitch to the end, or are we going to limit his pitch count in order for him to be available tomorrow?

End of 8, still 8-2.
BC
And that does it! 8-2 final.
BC
Three relievers combined for 8.1 innings of 1-run ball, allowing just two hits (walks, though, were a bit of an issue; they gave up 6). Still lots to like.
BC
Crazy that there were 35 runs scored in the first 11 innings of the series, and zero over the last 7.

Esquer said that 8-2 wasn't going to be the final score. He's going to need to replace his crystal ball

There were some towering shots bouncing off the lights. I missed Park's error in the first, but he made a great grab to pull back a home run. Time to get the Win today!
I presume with a 7-run lead going into the 9th, the UConn coach told his pitchers to throw strikes yesterday. Obviously, once the tying run is at the plate, that advice is no longer applicable. I credit the 4 HR in the 9th to Stanford's being way behind, but of course, the batters have to be capable of launching it.
In today's game, we saw Matthews fail to throw a strike when he should have in the 9th. In that case, a walk is
almost as good as a HR for the opponents. It didn't burn him today, but I hope he learns from his mistake. Or is it his mistake? Who calls the pitches? Yesterday, they showed the UConn bench using a (one way) walkie-talkie to the catcher.
A 2021-2022 rule.
I missed the first half of the game today. I take it there were no questionable calls on base running (successful or not).
