Bob, what does the regional mean for NCAA participation? Do teams have to finish well at regionals to qualify for NCAAs even if they won their conference championship?
RE: Stanford Cross Country -
BobK - 11-11-2022
The regionals are the gateway to the championship. The conference win doesn’t count towards the the next step

The West Regional is among nine regional championships Friday. The top two teams per gender at each meet automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships, on Nov. 19 in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
After those 18 teams are determined, the at-large process picks another 13 teams per gender, based on regional finishes and head-to-head, for a total of 31 teams in each race.
The West Region includes 10 of the 12 Pac-12 teams, plus many members from the Big Sky, Big West, Mountain West, West Coast, and Western Athletic conferences.
