I agree on 2 posts. In the '21-'23 classes we have 2 low-post players in Betts and Iriafen and 2 high-post players in Demetre and Agara. In our system, high-post player have to be good shooters (3-point and mid-range) to give the low-post players spacing otherwise defenses will just sag off the high post and double the low post. This is what happened when Belibi played the high post last year, teams just sagged off her, dared her to shoot jumpers, and doubled Brink. This is also why Belibi no longer plays the high post this year.
Ideally we get a low-post big banger or uber-athletic player and a high-post who can shoot but also rebound and defend opposing power forwards.

I can think of a few players who were giraffes in both height and coordination. Most were some time ago.

UConn is setting themselves up well for the next few seasons. If Bueckers returns healthy next year along with Fudd; no doubt they become the best backcourt in the country. With all their complimentary pieces; they would be hard to slow down offensively.
We need a really good 2024 class and hope we get some early commits.

Interesting on Verlhurst. We recruited her. Kampschroeder was another in that class. She started at Oregon State and is now at Michigan. We were in her final 3. Unless Oregon State suddenly turns things around, it would not surprise me if VonOelhoffen is in the portal after this season. I would take her as a transfer.

As a reminder, our transfer admit rate is something like 3-4% and in some years is as few as 20 or 30 (many of whom are nontraditional students and vets). If they aren't already Academic All-Americans I would essentially assume the answer is they could not. :)

We have had players transfer out the past two seasons so will cautiously wait and see what happens after this season. We may have openings even if Fran and Hannah return. I'm just speculating on VonOehlofen -she was heavily recruited by Stanford and accepted but just chose to go elsewhere. Other than Jordan Hamilton; no other transfers in I can recall. It's kind of a shame as the portal has changed athletics so much and maybe someone who initially didn't pick Stanford needed that extra time to figure out Stanford is where they want to be. I wish we could be a contender and option for those kids we initially recruited and were accepted to Stanford.

It is up to the schools if they want to extend their scholarship limits for fifth year seniors impacted by covid.
The NCAA gave conferences the option to implement the extra covid years or not and it looks like the Pac-12 and basically every conference except for Ivey League.
So, I think Jump and Belibi's scholarships would not count towards the limit HOWEVER maybe Stanford doesn't want to pay for those extra scholarships so then the team would be limited to the normal 15 spots. Stanford could definitely afford two extra scholarships but if they don't want to they don't have to is what I'm understanding.

The extra COVID year is available to all athletes impacted by COVID (so anyone enrolled in winter 2020 for basketball). However, except for the ensuing year, the scholarship limit has continued to be in place.
