There are 446 tickets still available before a sellout, as of the time of this posting. I'm hoping they all go in the next few days.

If you do have season tickets and cannot come, you could probably make a pretty penny on them. At the very least, give them away. We want a full house.

I do remember that game--Mike Montgomery at his best. Boston is a solid free throw shooter around 78%. Tim Duncan was under 70% in college. Might not work quite as well against Boston.

South Carolina is crushing Clemson (60) more thoroughly than we crushed any of our weaklings. They have missed 10 shots, but gotten 8 offensive rebounds. They are also 5/5 from three point range. Pretty had to beat a team that gets 80% of its misses back and hits 100% of its treys.

For those of you who encouraged me to return to the Cardinal message board, thank you and I'll give it another shot. This time, I think I'll get more enjoyment is asking questions that I hope might facilitate some good dialogue around a particular issue, so here goes.

Defensively, Cam has had some good moments against South Carolina, but offensively she has not been much of a factor:
2021 National Championship semifinal. 6pts. (on 3/4 shooting), 4rebounds, 6blocks
Dec. 2021 @ South Carolina. 3pts. (on 1/7 shooting), 4rebounds, 2blocks

CURIOUS TO GET YOUR FEEDBACK; How important is it for Cam to become more of an offensive presence on Sunday for us to defeat S. Carolina? What do you think Cam can do differently to be more of an offensive presence in the game on Sunday? OR, do you think it matters less about her scoring, but rather good defensive play and staying out of foul trouble, and the offense will come from others?

I think to answer your second question first and it's a common theme with Brink, is to have her stay out of foul trouble. I looked at the game log of both our last two games against South Carolina and she picked up early fouls in both contests. Later on in both games, she picked up two more fouls in relatively quick succession, so it's imperative she limits her fouls as if she can't stay on the floor, she can't contribute to the offense.

I think Staley matches her up against Boston defensively given their height similarities and puts Saxton or Amihere on Iriafen. It will be tough; usually we have the height advantage against most opponents, but not them. Belibi surprisingly had a good game against them last year going 6/9 for 12 points, but otherwise it was Haley and Lexie who were our leading scorers in both games.

With Lexie gone, I think someone else at the 2/3 position might have to step up alongside Haley to get some points. We might need our midrange shots to land as the paint will be difficult with 6'5" Boston and then 6'7" Cardoso off the bench; I am not sure if Betts will be up for defenders near her height with much more collegiate experience yet.

Jump only played three minutes in the national semis, but she was decently effective (3/7 from long range) against them in the second game. Hopefully her great game against Cal Poly will force more defensive attention on her and someone else can step up.

This is a critical game for Lepolo to show that she can create her own shot/offense as she's not going to get easy passes to her teammates for simple buckets against the overmatched opponents we've faced.

One point of weakness that we could potentially seek to exploit: despite the blowout win over Clemson, South Carolina did commit 20 turnovers.

I will put PRECHTEL (same height, same bulk) or BETTS (2 inches taller, longer wingspan) on BOSTON.

good post player. They also have 6'7 Kamilla CARDOSO,6'3 Sania FEAGIN, 6'3 Ashlyn WATKINS,
6'4 Laeticia AMIHERE and 6'3 Victoria SAXTON. The trio of CARDOSO, FEAGIN and WATKINS

And BETTS' Efficiency Rating is simply outstanding,
head and shoulders above everybody.

Points/game is meaningless when the coach is limiting time for players
and even points/40 minutes is pretty meaningless against much weaker teams.
FG% for bigs in these games is almost as meaningless.

To compare to our 4 big players (Brink, Betts, Prechtel, Iriafen), I'll use their Boston, Cardoso, and Amihere trio.
If you want to use their 6-pack of 6'3" or bigger, that will also include Watkins, Saxton, Feagin

FYI, our quad of bigs is hitting 73.3% (66/90) of 2-point shots in their first 5 games.
        SoCar trio of bigs is hitting 73.5% (36/49) of 2-point shots in their first 3 games.
          The 6-pack is hitting 69.4% (59/85) of 2-point shots in their first 3 games

........AND, our quad is hitting 41.1% (7/17) of their 3-point shots.
               SoCar trio of bigs is hitting 20% (1/5) of their 3-point shots.
               The 6-pack is hitting 44.4% (4/9) of their 3-point shots

Across the whole team, Stanford is hitting 64.5% of their 2-pt shots and 41.0% of their 3-point shots.
SoCar is hitting 60.5% of their 2-pt shots and 33.3% of their 3-point shots.

Duh.... You are using a formula that is biased for those close to the basket. Add in points, add in rebounds, subtract misses.

Someone like Jump who is getting a fair amount of points is still going to be hurt by her misses and won't get nearly the number of rebounds as someone whose hands are within 1 foot of the basket. No credit for disrupting passes, preventing the ball from going inside, shutting down the opponent's top scorer, etc.

I just looked at the ticket situation. Stanford ticket sales show 17 assigned seats available (mostly in 2s, one set of 3s, so probably from people who returned seats) plus the general admission unassigned seats, so we don't know how many of those are left.

There may be some more seats returned as people commit to their plans for Sunday. But I suspect Stanford has someone ready to buy up the last few seats and then turn around and offer them on StubHub, just so it will be a sell-out.

That is good news! I'm trying to remember our last sellout...it has been quite a few years I think. Probably when we broke the UConn streak?

I've received the email from Stanford Athletics asking us to be 90 minutes early to the South Carolina game since it is expected to take a long time to get everyone inside the sold-out house.

However, the chalk talk has not been moved, so far as I know. Attending the chalk talk will mean trying to get into Maples and seated in the last 15-20 minutes. I'd hate to be caught up in the crush and late to the game because I attended the chalk talk.

Thoughts?
