Watching a bit of the Arizona / Kansas game right now, playing in Tuscon. Looks as if the place is packed with fans. Wish we could do that!

UConn holds on to beat Princeton 69 to 64. Muhl may have a concussion and Senechal may have a foot injury.

May have to play Maryland with just 7 players on Sunday.

Arizona down by 12 to Kansas 6 minutes left in 3rd.

Kansas up by 30 with less than 2 minutes to go. Wow. Not a good look for #12 Arizona.

Arizona / Kansas game just ended. Kansas destroyed Arizona in the 2nd half, final score 77-50. Not a good result for the Pac 12, but clearly Kansas was underrated -- were undefeated going into the game, but not ranked, were 32 in the NET (vs Arizona 18)

Sad to see even more injuries piling up.  Delighted to see Princeton doing so well  That game, except for it being a mundane middle-of-the-season game, could have felt a lot like our notorious 1998 loss to Harvard--also provoked by injuries.

WBB TV: Uconn, Pac12 today - mbdude - 12-11-2022

Uconn-Maryland ABC 12pst

Wash-Wash St 2pm pac12
Oregon-Oregon st 4pm pac12

RE: WBB TV: Uconn, Pac12 today - 2006alum - 12-11-2022

Maryland clipped UConn after breaking out to an early lead, surrendering all of it at the tip of the 4th, but then controlling the ball to the end to win 85-78 (6 total turnovers against the Huskies - could that be a record low for an opponent against them in the Geno era?).

UConn probably is as close as any team to us in terms of depth, and it's impressive what they could do with a 7 person lineup, only one of whom started regularly last season...

Maryland takes down UConn, who was playing with just 7 players.  The first win by Maryland over UConn ever.  However, Maryland only played 7 players themselves.  The score was 85-78 but UConn kept it close the whole game.  Edwards was unstoppable in the paint and Maryland seemingly could not prevent UConn from getting the ball to her.  I think I would take Edwards over Boston if I were picking teams.  Overall, I was astonished that this much depleted UConn could keep up.

Maryland was able to win on the strength of a dozen three point shots and UConn's 21 turnovers--exacerbated by the injury to Muhl leaving them without a reliable point guard.

Maryland NEVER plays defense.  It must be counter to Freise's philosophy.

I watched some of this game too. It literally was a layup line for the Uconn bigs all game. 46 Uconn paint points to 16 for Maryland. Most of the shots were unguarded right under the hoop. Maryland is awful defensively but they got the W. If Uconn was even remotely more healthy, they would have won handily.

Rogers went off for 34 to lead Oregon to a 75-67 win at home over Oregon State.  Weird to see Oregon State starting Bendu Yeaney and Shalexxus Aaron.

Beavs were leading by 7 with about 5 minutes to play. Ducks hit 3s, beavs couldn't shoot

Colorado at Utah

One of the best offenses against one of the best defenses.

It seems odd seeing Pili playing for Utah.  Colorado got off to a terrific start, but then Utah closed the gap in the first quarter.  Utah 19-Colorado 17 after one quarter.

Utah with a 25-11 second quarter.  Utah's offense, against JR Payne's aggressive close defense, looks like a well oiled machine.  I'm just going to say it now:  Utah is our toughest competition in the Pac 12 this year.  Kneepkins and Johnson are awesome sophomores, and they are joined now by Pili, and those 3 are an offensive handful.  Utah's defense also looks awesome--but maybe that is just Colorado's poor offense.

RE: WBB: Other Teams 22-23 season - 81alum - 12-14-2022

Utah wins 85-58.  Pili with 25, Kneepkins with 17, Johnson with 14.  They shot 57%, also made 40% of their treys.  Colorado is just not a good shooting team, shooting 31% and not all the misses were well defended.

Utah's offense is fun to watch.  Sometimes 5 out, or 4 out, lots of different cuts to the basket, constant motion but from different people.

Utah was Tara's vote to win the Pac 12 (since she couldn't vote for Stanford under the rules). It's looking as if she correctly highlighted the team that's going to be Stanford's challenge in the conference. I think Utah is for real.

Thanks for the heads up on this. I was planning to watch the game off and on, but usually skip halftime. Now I won't.
