I'm sure Tavita will be fine. I'd guess that a likely next stop for him would be as a quality control coach in the NFL. There are a lot of current NFL coaches with Stanford connections including Roman, Hamilton, Fangio and Walters who could help him out. He wouldn't be doing much coaching in a QC role (mainly computer work) so it's not much of a risk for the NFL team but for Tavita it would be a chance to get his foot in the door of the NFL and go from there. His career path could end up looking very similar to Robbie Picazo - started as a grad assistant at Stanford, hopped on with Bloom at Rice working with QBs and RBs and then Pep picked him up this year as an offensive assistant / QC with the Texans.

Have you seen our offense that last few years? The play of our QBs? NFL coaches don't want to get fired. I would find it highly improbable that Shaw set up a deal for someone in the NFL to hire Tavita. Why would they?

Personal relationships, same reason that coaches that failed as head coach in the NFL always get multiple chances. I think it is also highly probable that some of these NFL coaches don't totally share your evaluation of Tavita. Doesn't mean they are correct, but from what I hear even on this board, some people think he at least has potential. If he interviews well, I can see it happening. Obviously it is going to be a level 3 in the hierarchy job, but that could be fine as a start. On paper at least, he is certainly qualified to be a position coach in the NFL.

Then why would Heffernan be one of the first people let go? I'm not ruling it out but sure seems like a clue. To me this is a sign Andy Thompson or Bobby Fresques is more likely to be the new Hornets coach.

According to the article, Richardson, Thompson, and Fresques all want the Hornets job and want to stay together, have already spoken to the AD, and are interviewing with the president this morning. That's some mammoth uncertainty for Taylor's Stanford staff. Welp, buckle up.

FootballScoop is reporting that TT will be his own OC and call plays. They don't list their source but not surprising given setup at Sac State.

Solid hire. Klayton has a good track record with P5 experience at Colorado. Coincidentally he coached at Sac State and is a Sacramento native but I don't think he's ever worked with TT.

Central casting. Immediately recent NFL experience, over half a decade of recent Pac-12 coaching experience, numerous years/stints coaching in Northern California. His college star fizzled when the coach he'd hitched himself to, Mike MacIntyre, did. A promotion in the NFL to a full position coach job is a good sign. Would need to dig in more to track records at each stop to have more of a read, but this is a Dan Hawkins/Chris Petersen coaching tree guy who steadily rose in the profession and checks all kinds of boxes in terms of credibility.

Big picture, it's plausible Taylor would prefer Adams' pedigree and credibility for the most important position coach job on the staff over Kris Richardson, which could be a clue in the mystery of Richardson appearing to have no interest in joining Taylor at Stanford.

Sadly the Colts actually got their O-line figured out and has been quite excellent (though this year took a step back) shortly after Luck left. Bummer that it took sending a generational talent into retirement to figure out that O-line is worth investing in.
