While you might think that what I belib is nivar here nor there, I know that Tara is the bos thats gana figure out how to run our opponents ragged, even at altitude, to the point where they can't go one more demetre. After our two victories, our opponents will be green with envy, and they will feel even worse when we prech their ncaa bubbles. Coach Hayden's endurance drills will be ki--absolutely ki-- to our ability to outlast our opponents. As the game winds down, we will have them on the brink of loss, and then we will just say nno to any more baskets for them. On the jzance that we do not win both games, I'm just going to tal any and all that we fans have been through much harriel experiences before. And if we do win both I will jump for joy as if I were the proud papa of the wins. When we go on to win the Pac 12 tourney, then all betts are off, since we have proven that we can win national championships far more regularly than most other teams in the nation, who mostly seem to be on the natty schedule of Haley's comet.
Our coaches will assure that our team not veer from this steding path, resulting in the ultimate paye off.

And beat off all attempts to defeat the Card with a Pohlax.

Yes, but the team is on the brink of greatness
It will help if we Jump out to a big lead early.
It helps that we have a basketball jones.

Scheduling this game for 2pm (3pm local time) on a working day is ridiculous, but you can see how it resulted from other decisions. The Pac 12 decided to create more space between the end of the regular season and the start of the Pac 12 tourney, and to do that they moved the women's games back to a Thu-Sat schedule instead of the normal Fri-Sun schedule.
That is, unfortunately, the same as the men.
For some reason, they could not guarantee that the women were playing opposite the men on the Home/Visitor determination. So the Colorado men and the Colorado women are both playing at home today.
Naturally, marketing and male bias dictate that the men get the prime time slot, and that relegates the women to the off-off-off slot of 2pm. That is 3pm local time.
Somehow, it seems as if they could have and should have handled this better.
Perhaps it will ultimately be to our advantage, depressing Colorado's home court advantage. Colorado has been drawing around 2000 for their home conference games, but the last time they played an afternoon game on a weekday was back in November and they drew 479. I imagine Stanford will bring out more fans than New Mexico State, but however many turn out, it will certainly be less than if the game were better scheduled. Some number of fans actually work for a living and won't be able to get off early.

An odd quote from Quay Miller:
Quote:“We are going to do whatever it takes to win,” senior Quay Miller said. “Last year, we depended on a few players and when they did not show up, we did not know what to do. This year we are all trying to take over and whoever has the hot hand we will just keep feeding this person.”
What she is probably getting at is that Stanford routinely takes away or limits the opponent's best player or two, forcing others to step up. But the way it came out seemed pretty disrespectful to her teammates of last year.

Quote:“It’s always fun,” senior point guard Jaylyn Sherrod said of playing Stanford. “I carry that underdog mentality at this point across my forehead. Going into the game, knowing what you’re gonna get, knowing you’ve got to be at your best … it just brings a sense of competitiveness and a sense of just wanting to showcase who this team is. I feel like a lot of people are still questioning us and don’t really know what we’re building here. But we know what we are and we know the team we can be, so it’s just about going out there and proving it.”

Unfortunately, I'm one of those people who have to work for a living. Fortunately, FUBO TV carries the Pac-12 Network and I am able to record the game.
I will be going dark on the Cardboard and ESPN so I can watch the recording of the game without knowing the outcome. For those watching the game live, please don't despair. It's bad for the heart. Trust in our team and Tara. And remember, there are only 6 must-win games remaining in this season.
GO CARD!
PS -- For those at the game, please be loud in your support of our team. You will likely be a much greater percentage of the crowd today than usual.

Fortunately, I'm self-employed, so heading out from Denver for the game in a few hours. I'll do my best to communicate the Martyup spirit during the game.
Weather currently -3 F in Boulder with a projected toasty 10 F at tipoff.
Geaux Cardinal!

I’ll be heading to the game as well with my partner. We’ll hope to bring good fortune with us from Denver as we cheer on the Cardinal in person.

Sounds like Tara maybe said to Haley and Cam. Stop shooting threes! We have many capable perimeter shooters and I hope we strike the right balance of inside and outside play the rest of the way.

Haley with two bad misses, a turnover, and a missed box out leading to a Colorado O board and she still doesn’t come out of the game! Let’s go team. Wake up.

I saw the story where Tara said we are a pound it inside team for the rest of the season. I know we need to work it inside but seems to me what we are doing is too much trying to do that, not enough overall movement. I'm having a bad day otherwise. Not sure I am in the mood to watch this if it another slog.

It's not the altitude. It's not the time of day. It's not the referees.
It's Colorado playing better than Stanford.
Plenty of time for Stanford to regroup and put things together which I expect they will.

Well, I hope we used up all our bad luck and inaccuracy in that quarter. It is frankly stunning that we are only behind by 8 after the first quarter. But clearly we have not figured out how to solve our offensive issues. Payne is a very sharp defensive coach, and she has witnessed how other defenses have stymied us, and is deploying the best of those.
We must get some three point shooting. Demetre's trey, the first fg of the game, is at least a start. How about half a dozen more like that one.

On the bright side, we're only down by 8 at the end of the first. We did however only score 5.
