From all I can tell, Haley is a wonderful & smart person. However, she only has 24 hours in a day. If (and I don't know that's the case) she wasn't getting enough practice on her 3-pt shot, I wonder what she was doing besides the (previously) normal student-athlete life. Maybe NIL?
I'd love to see her do an assessment of the pressures of NIL on the elite athletes in 2023.

Yes a mystery
HS 3pt line measures 19’9” from basket center. NCAA/FIBA 3pt line, men and women, is 22’1.75” from the basket. The NCAA changed the women’s 3pt distance to match the men’s line starting 2021/22 season. Perhaps the longer distance accounts for the reduced attempts/success rate?

Many people under value the degree of arc in a basketball shot. A low arc shot has a much smaller target area than a high arc shot.
Here is the potential target on a low arc shot:
Here is the potential target with a high arc shot:

No Tara at the draft with Haley. However Coach Andersen was there on behalf of the coaches. Glad one of the coaches attended with her.

Has Tara attended previous drafts? If so, makes me thinks there is a rift

Nice article in the Athletic on her draft night.
Yup. She needs to rebuild her shot from scratch to be an effective 3 point shooter. Remember too that the 3 point line moved back - summer 2021? But for a flatter shot, that extra distance matters a lot. It is certainly a big part of why her % is down so far from her Freshman year.
