Least favorite: lots (and lots) of drops by receivers. Ashton Daniels looked more the part than Patu, but at least AP has put on some pounds and looks like a football player.
Also in the least favorite category...angry old men in red vests. There are signs all over the place asking "How are we doing?" and I would say, "Quit doing that!"
Were there any receivers that impressed you?
#82 Jayson Raines made a couple of difficult catches. I agree completely that the receivers were dropping way too many balls, but some of them were poorly placed, particularly by Patu.
Like Cowboy, I was also impressed with the absolute pace of practice. In many practices that I observed under Shaw, there was always a lot of waiting around and quite a bit of time between plays/reps. In this one practice under Taylor, the clear approach was to get in as many reps as possible, with the absolute minimum time wasted between reps.

I would say CJ Hawkins, who's listed as a TE but seemed to be split out some (if I was not hallucinating). Tiger Bachmeier had a bunch of drops but looked the part several times.
I really wish there'd been a roster sheet available. It was really distracting to have to look at the Stanford online football roster between plays. I missed a lot.

CJ was cited by many teammates as being the best “hooper” on the team. Looking forward to seeing him do his thing.

For some reason I watched some of Colo scrimmage. It was more boring than the Card.

At least Stanford has not had anyone (yet) transfer right after the spring game.

The CU scrimmage itself may have been boring but the aftermath sure wasn't. Deion "cut" around 20 players after the game telling them that they needed to find another program if they wanted to continue their careers as college football players. Will be interesting to see if he faces backlash or if this becomes accepted as the new reality of P5 CFB.

This is already the new reality - if people think Deion is starting it, they're wrong. He's just the one getting all the clicks.
Oregon has cut 15 players this offseason and not a peep.

Will it really be interesting? No word more comprehensively defines Stanford Football now better than dull.
Yes.
It certainly won’t be dull come September. Will you watch?
I would lean toward being interested to see what it looks like, and take in the "new car" smell. But nobody is doing anything to increase my interest beyond my own natural curiosity.
There will be a smell all right...

More about a rush to the exits for the Colorado team. 41 players have entered the portal since Sanders became coach. Some of them have to be good.

Around 5 of them are good.

This is fascinating. It's the other side of the be careful what you wish for dynamic.
At one point in time, the Pac-12 mandated that a player offered a scholarship had to have it re-issued for four years. The idea being Pac-12 schools would guarantee their scholarships unlike say the SEC that would allow schools to not renew scholarships.
Now, since the players are free to transfer at the drop of a hat, there is no longer any reason to guarantee scholarships for four years. Now, players can be shown the door if they aren't performing up to par, and be told they can go somewhere else if they aren't good enough for Colorado.
This makes players vulnerable to having their education put in peril if they get cut at Colorado and no other school takes them as a transfer. It leaves them without a backup option if their pro football dreams don't materialize. Stanford has an opportunity to go a different route. Stanford can guarantee four years to recruits who sign, and give them their pro football backup plan in a way out other schools will not. Stanford can say we want you to realize your NFL dreams, but we also know the odds of making it are very small so we want to prepare you for life after football.
All Stanford has to do is maintain some level of market competitiveness in terms of available NIL compensation, and Stanford should do quite well zigging in this new era of college sports, while others are zagging.
Some may say Stanford is allowing under performers to stick around by not demanding they develop into good players. But if Stanford could move out under performers from the scholarship count - like they do medical retirees - and replace them in recruiting or by bringing in a few transfers who themselves want the Stanford backup plan if football doesn't work out, Stanford would be in pretty good shape from a talent acquisition and retention standpoint.
