NCAA Bracket here:

https://www.ncaa.com/brackets/tennis-women/d1/2023

This also includes seedings for those interested. (Stanford is seeded 7 while Ohio St was seeded 10)

RE: Women's Tennis - NCAA championships - Spiny_Norman - 05-12-2023

Stanford advances to the quarterfinals in Orlando to face #2 seed Texas A&M on Wednesday. The Aggies have an impressive record of 30-2 this year. Their only losses were to North Carolina indoors and to Georgia in the SEC finals. They also beat Georgia in the regular season.

It should be a dynamite match. For example, A&M's #1 player Mary Stoiana is 23-2 in dual matches. Stanford's #1 player Alexandra Yepifanova is 21-2 in duals. Stanford's #3 player Angelica Blake is also on a roll. She is 19-2 in duals. Her likely opponent Mia Kupres is 19-3.

We'll wait until after all round of 16 matches are completed to learn the match time for Wednesday. Hopefully, it will not be 9 am eastern.

Agreed, thank you Spiny Norman! I hope Colorado Tree is well.

Always sad to see some of the stalwarts fade away.  Hopefully ColoradoTree will come back.

Garvin, Kathy, Ferris_Bueller, Redrum, JacketTree, WashingtonIsMoney (and so many others) ... If you're out there, we miss you guys!

Stanford vs. Texas A&M will start late since the prior match (UNC vs. Texas) just ended. UNC won 4-2.

In addition to video (url above), you can follow stats at http://stats.statbroadcast.com/broadcast/?id=466205&vislive=stan once the match begins.

With wins at #1 and #3, Stanford takes the doubles point and leads 1-0!

RE: Women's Tennis - NCAA championships - Lorcan - 05-17-2023

Blake makes it 2-0 Stanford, and it's looking promising for the upset over the Aggies.

Yepifanova pushes it to a third set and it's not the only upset brewing tonight as the Cyclones are pushing #3 Wolfpack in the other quarterfinal.

4-0 Stanford.  All right now!!

RE: Women's Tennis - NCAA championships - Treefence - 05-17-2023

It's incredible how often women's tennis plays way better at the NCAA tournament.  We just crushed the #2 team in the nation, what a win!

They want no part of the Tree.

10 and 2 rue the day Stanford ended up in their bracket!

Crushed is right.  We were leading on all other matches, except it was tied 1-1 in the 3rd set for Yepi.

Next up - #3 NC State on Friday

RE: Women's Tennis - NCAA championships - PVTree - 05-18-2023

The next 2 matches will be tough. I think we get past NCST, but NCar will be tough to beat. Here's hoping for a Georgia upset.

RE: Women's Tennis - NCAA championships - Spiny_Norman - 05-18-2023

This team seems to feed off the momentum of winning the doubles point. Yepifanova talked about that in the interview she did before the Texas A&M match. Stanford now has won the doubles point in 14 consecutive matches.

But NC State will be very tough. Their top 2 doubles teams are both ranked in the top 10 nationally. And they have 3 of the top 26 singles players.

Edited to add - UNC has been the #1 team in the country all season. They are 33-1. Their only loss was to NC State in the ACC conference finals. The Wolfpack will be tough indeed.

Match time is now set for 2 pm pacific tomorrow with tv coverage on the Tennis Channel.

RE: Women's Tennis - NCAA championships - terry - 05-18-2023

Wow, that was a big win for the Stanford women! They were dominant. Maybe they are peaking at the right time.

Our semifinal is #7 Stanford (25-2) vs. #3 NC State (27-4).  NC State's losses were to #29 Vanderbilt, #14 Miami, #6 Duke, and #1 North Carolina.

The other semifinal is #1 North Carolina (33-1) vs. #4 Georgia (30-4).
