That SJSU game will be interesting. Former Navy Coach Niumatalolo is taking over the Spartans. Great hire in my opinion. I think he'll do well. His voice grew stale in Annapolis after 15 years in the head chair, but Navy did him dirty. He can coach no matter how much I yelled at him watching Navy tank his last few years after Malcom Perry briefly saved his bacon. They've essentially legislated the pure triple option out of the game, but he'll run some read based option variant and Stanford historically has trouble with that.

The 2024 season has 2 bye weeks. September 14 could be one of them.
Otherwise, it would be the ACC home opener and/or a 2-game trip to the East Coast.

The ACC weekend and ESPN have produced a series called Three-Day Weekend. There is one show for each of the previous 15 cities where campuses are located, plus Charlotte. They just added the last 2 episodes. Don’t know what plans they have for the 3 newbies.
At 3:30am PT, they are showing Syracuse, which is timely if inconvenient.

I was at the previous game against TCU, which is also to date the most recent Stanford home game I have attended in person. For much of the day it had the potential to serve as an encore to the Greatest Upset Ever. Right when we took a 31-17 lead, our team ran out of juice on both sides of the ball. (We got our encore a week later with an upset in Arizona.) A look into the "Golden Age" of Stanford football as it was just starting to warm up.
If this year's TCU game goes any better than that other one did, it'll be a good day. Considering where we're at as a program this year's game going just as well might be enough.

The announcement today said that our game vs Syracuse is our ACC opener so 9/14 is a bye. Good thing too as traveling cross country on a short week would be a big disadvantage.

Three of last 4 games (November) are on the road. NC State on 11/2 is the last East Coast game with a bye week after that.

The 4th east coast visitor gets the bye the week after the trip here.
ACC Network says Stanford travel is 21K and Cal travel is 24K. Didn't say whether they counted the Clemson trip as a trip from the West Coast.

Is the travel data based exclusively on conference games? If not, Cal is playing a non-conference game at Auburn. That would certainly impact miles traveled.
