I am very impressed that the frosh came into the fall season knowing the expectations of playing for the defending national champs and the pressure of being the #1 recruiting class in the country and they still played solid (and sometimes excellent) golf. Each of them has already recorded a top 10 finish. I hope that their progress continues into the spring. I expect that 2 of the 4 will make the final lineup for regionals with a 3rd one as the designated alternate.
Contrast that against the Stanford men which also brought in the nation's #1 recruiting class. In the fall season, the frosh recorded one top 15, one other top 20 and no top 10s. Lots to learn and develop between now and the spring season.

After a break of over 3 months, the top ranked Stanford women's golf team is back in action. They start the spring season today and tomorrow in San Diego against a field that contains no other top 25 teams and only 2 other teams ranked in the top 50.
Stanford's lineup for this tournament is Xu, Ganne, Martin Sampedro, Ortengren and Chien. Sundberg is playing as an individual. Revuelta is at home.
As round 1 is wrapping up, Stanford has the lead at -8. UNLV is 2nd at -5. Round 2 will be played this afternoon and Round 3 tomorrow.

By the way, after tomorrow, Stanford will play only 2 more tournaments before the ACC tournament in mid-April. Of course, many of the team members will be at the Augusta National Women's Amateur in early April.

After a 3 month layoff, Stanford is picking up where they left off in the fall. The tournament is over for all intents and purposes. Round 2 is coming to an end and Stanford has a 25 stroke lead. The Cardinal was led today by frosh Meja Ortengren who followed up a morning 68 with an incredible
62 this afternoon. At -14, she has a 6 shot lead.
Martin Sampedro and Xu are tied for 5th at -5. Ganne is 7th at -4. Sundberg playing as an individual is also -4. Chien is at +2.

Ortengren's -14 for 36 holes breaks the -13 school record set by Rose Zhang and Rachel Heck, both in 2022.
Her -10 second round ties Mariah Stackhouse's -10 61, set on the Stanford course. 13 years ago.
The team's -28 for 36 holes ranks third all time.
RE: Stanford Women's Golf 2025 -

Stanford finished today at -31 and a 32 shot win.
Individually, Meja Ortengren won her first collegiate tournament.
1. Ortengren -15
2. Martin Sampedro -7
T4. Xu -5

I read on a WBB thread that every scholarship recruit going forward will expect NIL from Stanford in the recruiting process.
What about women's golf. Are any of the amazing 2026 recruits expecting NIL money from Stanford. My guess is probably not but I really don't have any idea.

The NCAA Settlement on NIL will only distribute 5% to sports other than the Big 3 (FB,MBB,WBB). Does anyone know why Revuelta hasn't played in recent matches?

I've wondered the same thing re Revuelta--the highest ranked player on the roster.

I have no knowledge. But we can speculate.
She might be injured. She might have decided to redshirt. Or the other players might be beating her during qualifying.
Let's see who is in the lineup for the Juli Inkster tournament on Monday and Tuesday in Marin.

She played in every fall match And has the team's fifth best scoring average--a full stroke lower than Chien, a half-stroke behind Xu.
And is the world's number 8 ranked amateur, the highest ranked on the team.

A fantastic add to the thread. Many thanks
Speaking to the NIL which I really know nothing about. It seems to me that big professional money lies in Football,Baseball, Basketball (far more Men than Women) and Golf again far more Men than Women, but the still nothing to laugh at.
Like Basketball, women golfers make far less money than their male counter parts, but if I owned a golf company, I would be looking for Men and Women golfers to feature my equipment since one size does not fit all. If you missed the Stanford Women's Coaches pod cast, find it, well worth a listen.

Revuelta is not in the lineup for the Juli Inkster which starts tomorrow. Nor is she playing as an individual. She might be injured or recovering from illness. She is still on the roster on GoStanford.com.
The Juli Inkster tournament is a measuring stick for Stanford. It's a chance to go head-to-head against #3 Oregon and #4 USC (whom Stanford defeated in the national semifinals last year).
