Hambly actually used a modified 6-2 some this year. Sometimes Xu would be replaced by a hitter when in the front row and the opposite (Fidelak) would set.

I recall when Dunning made that setter change he said for a few days Humphreys was not on speaking terms with him. But within a week Humphreys was totally on board and became a big supporter of Jenna. In the end it obviously was the correct decision.

Dunning also moved Plummer from right side to OH. At first her parents questioned what Dunning was doing because Plummer had not played OH prior to that. In the end Dunning was proven worthy of his Coaching Hall of Fame status.

I was browsing the volleyball message boards for Nebraska, Penn State, and some other bigtime volleyball powerhouses that got knocked out of the tournament. The number one complaint of their fans: They don't have a terminal OH like Plummer. She may have set a standard in the 2019 championship match that might take a long time to duplicate.

+1. Plummer was the hammer in that entire tournament, especially making something out of nothing and finishing out of system sets.

In the tournament, having a go to, can't be stopped player, is key. Ogonna Nnamani was dominant and could not be stopped.

This season was certainly disappointing for us Stanford fans... but today I’m pretty sure I’m nowhere near as bummed as any Wisconsin fan!

Season ended today with Kentucky winning its first National Championship (after making its first Final Four).

They beat Texas in 4 sets - 20-25, 25-18, 25-23, 25-22

Kentucky and Texas are the two best teams in the country. That was a high level championship match. Both teams passed extremely well and passing is what Stanford will need to get there in the fall.

Yes, I watched jealously how good their passing (especially Kentucky’s) was, compared to our passing in the few of our games I watched this year.

There is a lengthy discussion on a VB message board about the possibility of Stanford WVB getting a grad transfer for the fall season. The player would have had to apply to grad school admissions before now to be considered for fall 2021, correct?

The USA National Team will be playing in a four week tournament in Italy starting May 25. The Olympic team will be chosen based on the performance of the players in this tournament.

There was an scrimmage match yesterday. Starting at MB was Foluke Akinradewo. Starting at OH was Plummer.

Thanks for the info. We need all the players we can get to make sure team scrimmages are possible.

Her timetable is mystifying to me. The deadline for Stanford applicants to accept 2021 fall admissions was May 3, 2021 I believe. According to the article she signed a letter of intent on May 6, 2021.

She may have de-commited from some other school at the last moment or she may have gotten accepted to Stanford and Hambly asked her to be on the team after the fact. I don't know. I'm sure there will be some article published at some point about her journey to Stanford.

She signed not she signed an lOI. We are full for scholarships. We would only exceed 12 for a free 5th year and we will have no one in that category

Her ceremony timing has nothing to do with Stanford. Note she had the ceremony with others at her school

Rubin 6'0" OH (2022), despite her height Elia is highly ranked. I don't know much about her. I'm assuming she is a first rate passer which is exactly what Stanford needs now more than any other position.

Rubin was named pre season first team AA for the 2020 season. She is at the famed for girls Volleyball Marymount HS
