So many times through the years a player is not getting much publicity; word gets out she is being recruited by Stanford and suddenly she becomes one of the top players in the country.  Kinda makes my question prep rankings.

"MB: Erika Sayer, 6-2 Jr., Colorado Juniors 17Kevin (CO) – One of the nation’s top junior middles, Sayer was on her game this weekend. She led 17Kevin to first place at the region’s Top Flight Tournament. She hit .520 and added 15 blocks and six aces."

FWIW:  Looked like a smaller crowd at this year's banquet.  I think only 13 tables, with 8 people per table (some years I think it has been 10/table and ~15 tables).  Very few (if any) alumnae there.  Still, a nice program and a good time.

I'm dropping my football season tickets and have been thinking about picking up WVB season tickets. I regularly attend the WBB banquets, so maybe I'll start with WVB too if I become a season ticket holder.

I highly recommend it. The WVBall Banquet is our favorite Stanford event and we attend every year. The athletes are amazing people and the team is so close. It starts with each player introducing a teammate and sharing what makes them such a special member of the team. One by one we get to know each athlete as a special human being off the court,  hear funny and heart warming stories, and what they value and love about their teammates. Then Coach Hambly reads the moving, personal letter he wrote to each graduating senior in turn before he introduces each to address the banquet audience for the last time. Always tears.

As an example, Annabelle Smith is being considered for a Fulbright Scholarship before she goes to medical school and she plans to become a surgeon.

I love the WVB banquet and the start of season open practice and bbq. Meet and greet the players and coaches. The Super Bowl with family weekend here in Roseville caused me to miss.
Compsci get your season ticket it’s so worth it to watch great teams year after year.
Now who is the second MBer commit for 2025?

I had a wonderful time at WVB banquet sitting with Malia Tufuga and her parents (wonderful people) as well as Annabelle Smith.  It was great talking to the to the players about their non-VB lives and aspirations.  We have some great student-athletes.

I've had season tickets for Football, men's and women's basketball and WVB.  After moving to WA last year, the only season tickets I will keep are WVB.  I highly recommend it.  I saw my first college WVB match about a decade ago and quickly got hooked.  It's a great spectator sport and Stanford is always competitive and always filled with enthusiastic, fun, special athletes.  As an aside, I was at the match in Austin when we swept Texas in early September.  That was incredibly enjoyable.

Excited for next year.

Attended my first men's volleyball game tonight. Despite losing 3-1, it was a lot of fun. It's always amazing to me how the players can dig such powerful shots a couple of inches from the floor.

Not a Madeleine Gates level grad transfer, but we certainly need depth at MB with only one returning player from last year and an injury prone player at that, Sami Francis.  We do have a top recruit (Lizzie Andrews) and a walk-on (Sidney Duncan) at MB, but certainly could use the depth.

I'm optimistic about next year thinking we have some great young talent with Miner, Oglivie and Rubin providing top experienced players.
