If Brown is physically ready to play he has to at least see the field. Whether he starts right away is a decision for TT to make, but if he's riding the bench any number of schools can come along and say he'll be their number 1 QB if he enters the portal. I know it's weird but that's how college football is working now.
Plus the fact that if Brown is anywhere near as good as we think he is he won't be around for five years anyway.

Yes, and sometimes the argument is that redshirting a young QB helps them develop more quickly, keeps them from being thrown to the wolves immediately, and prevents loss of confidence or development of bad habits.
Having said that...sometimes you have a wolf too.

Brown will also weigh the O-Line and decide how much protection he will get next year, or enter the portal.
Miller Moss likely leaves USC (not a grad student) if his draft prospects improve.
... and the rest of the QBs on Trojan roster cannot match Elijah Brown.
From his Mater Dei roots, a transfer to USC would be a snap of the fingers. ?

I recall someone posting that about Canady. Or was it Iriafen?

U$C has a top ten QB prospect coming in next year, so I doubt if they would go aggressively go after Brown.
Anyway, we have Tiger's brother coming in, who is also a top prospect.
So I'm not worried too much about Brown hitting the portal.

TT seems to be following Shaw's convention of not playing freshmen -- we may still need Brown next season.

Why are you being so weird? Do you think Brown will still be hurt next season? I think we'll need Brown next season because, apropos of the Bear Bachmeier mention, I don't think TT will play Bear. Ergo, we may still need Brown next season, and Troy Taylor should do whatever he can to convince Brown to not transfer out. Does Brown being hurt this season have any bearing on this line of thinking?

That's my bad, I misunderstood your point.
