I started watching a few minutes ago. Bosgana being helpful on both ends of the court.
Next to the UTSA post player Nunu looks like a small person. That's a big body.
1,700 K-12 local students in the house according to the announcer.
Stanford up 57-44 midway through the fourth quarter.

Yes. As far as I can see those stats only list players who have been in.

Honestly I think we go as far as either Bosgana or Ogden take us. They both have considerable upside. Neither have been consistent, but Bosgana has more good games .

I finally got the game playing on Watch ESPN with 3 min to play. I had to use a VPN server on the east coast and change my zip code on my Fubo account to a NC zip code.

Demetre fouls out. UTSA can't make foul shots.

For her age, UTSA head coach is very good looking.
RE: WBB: Stanford vs. UTSA; preview and game thread -

Bosgana gets the ball under the basket off the press break and doesn't go for a layup, instead dribbling away to get fouled. Then she makes only 1 of 2, for only a 3 point lead with 13.5 left.

Harriel steals the ball and scores; clinching the win for the Cardinal.
Bosgana gets the post game interview and does a good job with it.
Stanford might spend some time practicing bringing the ball down the court against a press. Lead goes from 15 points to 2 points in fourth quarter.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't seem to remember Leopolo having this much trouble bringing the ball up the court. Is she still hurt?

I subscribe to both ESPN+ and Fubo. I can usually watch ESPN games on a computer or a flat screen. But streaming on my iPad is always iffy. I frequently get the message "Your provider doesn't let us show this content in your area." Which is interesting because my providers are the same on computers and the TV set. About to write ESPN support on Twitter to see if I get an answer there.

Yes, and yes. For all Lepolo's weaknesses, she generally doesn't get rattled against the press. Unfortunately, she's out for the foreseeable future, and my guess is probably for the season. I wouldn't be at all surprised if she seeks a medical red shirt and a grad transfer, but what do I know?

I managed to get to the game just in time for the second half. And so I am willing to own up to one thing I got absolutely wrong. Maples was NOT dead. The 1700 school kids were very loud and very shrill, making this the loudest game this year. On the other hand, only about 1/3 of the season ticket holders were in attendance.
I'm feeling more and more "done" with analyzing this team. They are who they are. We are undersized in the front court and relatively inexperienced against nearly every team we play. How many 3 and 4 year starters do we put on the court? Answer: 0. When was the last time that was true of a Stanford team?
Far from a "recovery"" game this was a nail biter. This is not entirely on the coaches--the new era has resulted in us being depopulated of a frontcourt that we recruited and expected to be mature and experienced by this year. And so we make do with what we have.
Why is Umeh not playing? The one chalk talk I was at when she was discussed, the coach noted that she was working very hard on her conditioning. I'm beginning to wonder if she will redshirt and save her eligibility for when she is in tip top shape. I have no basis for thinking that other than idle speculation.
I'll add that the Princeton seems to me to be a style of offense that is particularly vulnerable to officiating crews that call the game loose. Too much physicality absolutely destroys that offense. In contrast, offenses that depend upon one or more solo-artists with great physical skills can score even without assists and even in the midst of a bruise-a-thon. Offenses that depend upon timing (like the Princeton) are discombobulated by things that upset the timing. Defensive game planners know this and rapidly learn just how much discombobulation they will be allowed to get away with in the game. Our struggles really began when other teams just decided to chance the fouls and be extra aggressive.
Bosgana did look good to me, particularly her rebounding. There was a stretch where she collected about three in a row--all heavily contested.
Having snuck by UTSA, now we get ready for Ohio State.

Although, given the Harriel steal, it may not have mattered, I think the way the refs ended that game actually turned out to be something of a "steal" from UTSA; if I were them, I'd be ticked.
You're right that, failing to start the clock might have been a help at first, but I find it hard to believe that what the refs did next was the right, or at least the fair, thing to do.
UTSA took the ball in with 13.5 on the clock. After two [I think] passes, the ref noticed that the clock hadn't started and blew her whistle. Then after the obligatory "going to the monitor" [good thing it wasn't Missy or we'd still be waiting for the call...] and reviewing what happened, the refs determined that there had been 2.6 seconds of play. They instructed the time keeper to reset the clock to 10.9, and UTSA took the ball in again, but now with only 10.9 seconds left to run the [presumably, 12-13 second] play they had set up. Moreover, Stanford had now had a chance to see what the offensive setup was, as well as a fairly long timeout [while the monitor was being gone to] to strategize further.
Once the time keeper made the initial mistake, some damage had been done, but the fair thing at that point is to minimize that damage. The best -- i.e., the most fair solution to the team with the ball -- would be to blow the whistle, stop play, make sure the clock is working properly [while the teams stay on the floor], reset it, and have UTSA take the ball in again with 13.5 seconds on the clock as if none of that had ever happened. Doing that means that neither team is helped OR hurt in terms of time.
However, by doing what they did, the refs needlessly impacted the game by taking 2.6 seconds away from USTA and clearly HURTING their chances [at least at the moment, i.e., prior to Harriel's steal].
If someone doesn't agree with this, imagine the following hypothetical and explain the difference. Take 10 seconds off the 13.5 game clock [leaving it at 3.5] and add .5 seconds to the time it took the ref to notice the problem and blow her whistle. In that case, repeating the procedure followed today, USTA would be taking the ball in with 3.5 seconds left to go, play would be stopped after 3.1 seconds had passed, and USTA would get to take the ball in with only .4 seconds left on the clock. That's guaranteeing a UTSA defeat, which would, IMHO, be completely wrong. I can't believe that those two minor changes in the hypothetical from what happened in our game justify a different rules interpretation, but I also can't believe the rules support the way things were handled in our game.
I'm happy for the Harriel steal and the win...but, if I were Jamie Carey, I'd be really angry.

I feel your frustration.
But still appreciate your previews and analyses.
I've thought since beginning last year that Bosgana is a very talented player and shows it sometimes. Like today.
But not every game.
Agara has stepped up this season, all you could ask for.
Demetre? probably doing most of what could be expected.
The others? Comme ci comme ca
We are a good team, and could knock off some better teams, like almost did LSU.
But we are not a really good or great team, or at least haven't displayed it yet.

I'm an ESPN+ and Fubo guy. Whenever I have these "provider doesn't let us show this content" message, I re-choose Fubo as my carrier on ESPN+ and it fixes it. I think there's a bug of some sort - it loses track of your IP/location, so refreshing it usually fixes it. Might give that a try.

I agree 100%. I don't know why the refs didn't do that. I assume there is a rule for resetting the clock and the refs followed it.

Is she coming off an injury?
"conditioning"? With such an impressive resume it's hard to understand she's not in good condition coming to college. Or getting into condition working with the team for three months prior to the season. Maybe she's not ready for the speed of DI and coach was looking for a nice way to say it. Or maybe I don't know the meaning of conditioning as used here.
