RE: WBB: ACC Tournament thread - Hieronymus - 03-05-2025

Same basic issue we have seen all year. Ogden and Nunu are about the only ones who can do anything against this caliber of defense. And of course Nunu is only just back and has not been a factor so far. The execution that works against mediocre to bad defenses just doesn’t cut it at this level. I don’t think a 1v1 star is going to suddenly appear; so they have to figure out something they can get done as a team offensively. Moving the ball faster would at least be a start. On the other hand, our defense has been very good mostly and is sorta keeping us in this so far.

Too optimistic - it is Starting to slip away now

still embarrassing

Yeah it’s hard to have a worse half on offense. They really have nothing working even sporadically.

RE: WBB: ACC Tournament thread - 81alum - 03-05-2025

Worst offensive quarter of the year.  We are a completely different team on the road than at home.  Not only are we losing, it is a boring, ugly game to boot.  I feel obligated to watch, but am certainly not enjoying the experience.

All that said, the game is not out of reach.  If we can make the right adjustments and come out with more energy, we could turn this around.  But not if we have another quarter like the 2nd.

Horrid first half...just ugly!

RE: WBB: ACC Tournament thread - JJJ - 03-05-2025

How many shots have we missed in the paint? It seemed like many were ill-advised drives to the left side of the basket, putting up awkward shots with little chance of success. Was that the scouting report saying “don’t go right?”

RE: WBB: ACC Tournament thread - Hieronymus - 03-05-2025

6 FGs
23% shooting
0 threes
10 turnovers
1 block
1 steal
+1 rebounding is the only vague positive

RE: WBB: ACC Tournament thread - M T - 03-05-2025

Having Agara and Umeh in at the same time seemed to disrupt Clemson a bit.  Maybe Stanford can get that going.

Surprising stat: Stanford has more offensive rebounds than Clemson.
(But, Stanford has missed 2x as many shots)
The rebounding percentages are 67% vs 68% so basically even.

Clemson is working pretty hard to force people left. Good scouting on their side.

Fortunately Clemson only scored 27 points in two quarters.  However, it won't matter unless we start making some baskets. We are driving to the hoop and hoping for a whistle while missing the layup. Over and over, again and again. I kept hoping KP would call a timeout. Fingernails on a chalkboard.

Bosgana loves to drive left.  It used to be too much so.  Maybe we can get her going.

I wasn’t watching closely enough, but I expect Bosgana isn’t be directed so obviously left as some of the other players.

Yeeesh. That was the worst offensive half I have ever seen from Stanford wbb.

16 points in a half....I think we had 12 in a half against UConn once.  But Clemson isn't UConn.

RE: WBB: ACC Tournament thread - JJJ - 03-05-2025

Thanks, everyone, for your insight. Hopefully, the second half shows significant adjustments and improvement!

Been watching this channel for about 45 minutes and the Nothing but Net crew has already disparaged The Tree twice. Good thing I'm 3000 miles away.

Bosgana goes left for our first basket of the 2nd half!

Hmm...maybe I will visit California. Looks nice.

RE: WBB: ACC Tournament thread - 81alum - 03-05-2025

Well, we are getting shots to fall in the 3rd quarter, but so is Clemson.  At least it is more watchable, although we still trail by 13.

RE: WBB: ACC Tournament thread - Card10Fan - 03-05-2025

We are definitely not winning the hustle 50:50 plays. Giving up 3 offensive boards leads to a wide open 3 for them. Thought we would play with much more intensity and effort considering we have a lot more to play for than Clemson and lost to them already this season. Team looks unengaged with poor coaching again. We’ve seen serval versions of this throughout the season at SMU, at Virginia.
