I heard about five weeks ago Hambly and Rubin went to DC to advocate for some sanity in NIL and transfer rules.  I just saw this picture.  One of the comments was they thought the guy in the picture was a Senator.

RE: 2025 Women’s Volleyball - paloalto - 05-25-2025

I was at a club volleyball tournament today at the Anaheim Convention Center.  It was a big tournament; 281 teams just in the 16u age group.    Hambly was there watching his daughter Maura.  I believe he’s traveled down to SoCal for all four of the SCVA tournaments to watch his daughter; a dedicated father.

FWIW, a while back the Oregon head coach took a job at Kansas.   There was a mad dash to the transfer portal and only two returning players are on the Oregon team.  I guess big Nike NIL money isn’t interested in keeping WVB players at home.

A lot of 2025 schedules are out.  What I've seen so far for Stanford:

Stanford at Nebraska Aug. 24

Stanford at Texas Sept 7.

Hawaii, UCLA, Texas State at Stanford Sep. 19-21 (Hawaii v. Stanford on 9/19)

Pitt at Stanford Nov. 14
SMU at Stanford Nov. 16

I've forgotten what else has been already been mentioned.

RE: 2025 Women’s Volleyball - paloalto - 06-07-2025

Geez Nebraska and Texas early in the season.  Both those teams are a bunch of highly paid professionals.  Does anyone know definitively what meaningful NIL, if any, WVB players at Stanford are getting?  I'm not talking about a couple bucks commission for each sweatshirt sold with their name and number on it.

So 2027 players can be contacted by coaches and issue verbal commits on June 15th.  Are there any other prep players than Real and Mack being discussed?

RE: 2025 Women’s Volleyball - M T - 06-08-2025

3PM Sunday afternoon:  The USA women's team (Volleyball Nations League, Eric Sullivan is coach) is playing South Korea in Rio on the B1G Network.   Morgan Hentz is currently on the floor.

Interestingly, the S. Korean coach ice coaching in English and is being interpreted to his players.

USA won in 3 sets but have a record of 1-3, having lost to Italy 0-3, Brazil 0-3, Czechoslovakia 2-3.

Maura Hambly committed to cal. Congrats to her and dad

RE: 2025 Women’s Volleyball - johnbar - 07-13-2025

Belardi & Bell won the Vancouver Open (part of the Canadian Beach VB tour). Ruby Sorra & Taylor Wilson made it to the quarterfinals.

There is video on their website:  https://www.beachtourbc.com/vanopen
The women's championship match starts at about 5h30m into the Sunday afternoon coverage.

ETA: Sorry, just realized I posted this in the wrong thread.

RE: 2025 Women’s Volleyball - BobK - 07-23-2025

The roster has been posted. 17 players

https://gostanford.com/sports/womens-volleyball/roster

Still a bit of work in progress
Tusher also on the Beach team is the third setter

RE: 2025 Women’s Volleyball - BostonCard - 07-23-2025

Starters?

Presumably OH: Rubin and Kurt (or Blyashov); Harvey is the OPP
Setter: Yu
MB: Andrew and a freshman?
Lib: Etzler is the only one listed, but possibly one of the DS from last year?

RE: 2025 Women’s Volleyball - BobK - 07-24-2025

That’s my thought BC except maybe a 6-2 with Parks also setting
Yes on a Frosh MB no clue which

RE: 2025 Women’s Volleyball - BostonCard - 07-24-2025

Would the thinking then be that Harvey and one of the other pins (wasn’t Kurt at one point thought of as a potential OPP) rotates in so as to be able to play all four pin hitters?  One of the things we will miss about Miner was her ability to catch the opposition napping by hitting on 2.  You lose that with a 6-2, but gain the ability to have three hitters/blockers at all times (four if you have a good back row hitter).  My recollection is that the last time we played a 6-2, we won a national title, but only because we switched to a 5-1 midyear, LOL.

Life after Oglive and Miner will be an adjustment.

Talking to Kurt before her first game she thought never as opp. Of course now loaded with pin hitters so we shall see.
Hope to make the bbq next month and learn a lot
The 6-2 less than half the season then.
Lost Francis also as you said a Frosh in her place
Of course our Frosh class ranked third in the nation

Yes, that was the joke.  That being said, swapping systems mid-year is a major challenge, and it is amazing that the season ended well, let alone that we won a national championship after the switch.  Alas, it was switching away from a 6-2 to a 5-1, but still, it is true that the last time we started the year with a 6-2 we won a title, LOL.

Match at University of Texas Moody Center (capacity 10,000 plus for volleyball) is sold out more than one month before the match.

Will Stanford sell out any of its home matches?
