When you stare down your receivers, you tend not to see the non-blind side rush coming directly at you.  Kahlil House was the RT there...not a great snap from him.  Yet another short field turnover.  Maybe I'm starting to see the value of a third down punt.  (Just kidding, no.)

RE: SkiBum80 - FarmTeam - 09-06-2025

At this point I want BYU to score a couple of more TDs if that's what it will take for Reich to bring in a different QB. I can't think of a worse Stanford QB who wasn't a spot starter (e.g., Jack West). This guy can't play. Can't throw with any accuracy, not mobile. Why is he in the game?

RE: BYU Game Thread - fullmetal - 09-06-2025

That's two turnovers directly attributable to BG.  Tafiti with the sack on Bear breathes life into this defense.

Sock drawer time

RE: BYU Game Thread - fullmetal - 09-06-2025

Hey Reich, how many turnovers does BG have to commit to make a QB change?  Cause BYU is going to help him get there.

SkiBum80 - SkiBum80 - 09-06-2025

Our defense are hero’s, saints, gold stars
The O should do their laundry and do Jack in the box runs for them for the rest of the school year

TV announcers make understatement of the year:
Stanford’s offense is struggling

RE: BYU Game Thread - fullmetal - 09-06-2025

BG fumbles the hand off from under center.  I guess it's not a skill they teach anymore. But he throws it away on the run which was a good result. Finding an open receiver would have been better.

#5 is one of our captains?  Not very impressive on that long run.

RE: BYU Game Thread - Langdude - 09-06-2025

Not sure I can watch much more of this. It's such a bummer.

SkiBum80 - SkiBum80 - 09-06-2025

Gulbransons turnovers, 2, an interception and a lost fumble, match his completions, 2
So I guess he’s kinda balanced

RE: BYU Game Thread - fullmetal - 09-06-2025

OL lets in two rushers up the A gap...RB picks up one, BG takes a blind side sack from the other.  No pocket awareness, yet another data point.

I think that was from a shotgun snap.  It's not like he didn't see blue uniforms rushing past the OL.  Also that center needs to call the right protection and the line needs to execute.  From the consecutive false start penalties earlier, it's clear that the line isn't on the same page.

SkiBum80 - SkiBum80 - 09-06-2025

I’m done for tonight
BG and being on east coast both contributed to the sign off

RE: BYU Game Thread - fullmetal - 09-06-2025

#22 with the failed tackle on the BYU runner after the runner pushed him down...on his helmet...needs more time in the weight room.

Well done to the secondary for covering downfield on that trick play.  And good run defense on the subsequent snap.

SkiBum80 - SkiBum80 - 09-06-2025

One final thought for my night
Of course this poor offense is not solely on BG
However the QB is arguably the single most important player on the O
And our QB might possibly be the worst player on our O

RE: BYU Game Thread - fullmetal - 09-06-2025

Agreed.

Secondary covered well on that 3rd and 15 from BYU.  Pressure came eventually, but it came.  Defense deserves their flowers.

Safety.  GTFO.  BG and the offensive coordinator need to go.

RE: BYU Game Thread - thunder_chik - 09-06-2025

The commercials are more interesting than the game.

RE: BYU Game Thread - fullmetal - 09-06-2025

OC shows life.  Good calls, high percentage short passes. Pass for 10 yds, pass for 7 yds. Let's go.

triangle2 - triangle2 - 09-06-2025

Idle thought - how many guys on campus are former starting high school quarterbacks who gave up playing at a low D1 or a D2 program because they got into Stanford. Are they watching and thinking “Jeez - I can throw better than that?”

RE: BYU Game Thread - fullmetal - 09-06-2025

Richardson, West...I wouldn't say a walk-on non-recruit would do well at all.  But EB should be given a shot.

Defense can't stop Bear for some reason...not enough pressure.

Here's an idea.  Hold a Madden tournament, Bay Area-wide.  Winner gets to be OC for a one-game audition.

Patterson with an excellent, timely sack.  Kudos!

RE: BYU Game Thread - Langdude - 09-06-2025

I really like Bear Bachmeier's game. Seems like the real deal. Is it really true that he backed out of Stanford because someone said he couldn't be the starter this year? Man.
