RE: SMU Game Thread - JJJ - 10-11-2025

We get the ball to start 2H, and we get Matt Rose back on D following the targeting call last game. Let’s go!

RE: SMU Game Thread - ADPinWDC - 10-11-2025

Offensive holding is killing us.
But, I agree our O-Line is sub-FBS D1.  We averaged 2y a carry running in 1H.  BAD.
#51 Z.Brown, the sub for Yamauchi, is getting blown out on each play.
FIVE sacks already

RE: SMU Game Thread - lex24 - 10-11-2025

It’s not his fault.  But Gilbranson has no mobility to speak of.

RE: SMU Game Thread - ADPinWDC - 10-11-2025

My proposal for the $50M from Brad Freeman = $1 million NIL money (over 4 years), for 4or5 star O-Line.
$1M EACH for O-Line. Everything else keys off that

Start with the OL

Ball should have been caught.

Have to think portal makes that even tougher.  Don’t have opportunity to develop a line.  They leave….

The gap in speed and athleticism is enormous.

RE: SMU Game Thread - JJJ - 10-11-2025

Well, Aaron Morris is well enough that they released him from the hospital and he will be back on the sideline. Best news of the day so far this second half…

That is good news.

Way more important than the game….

Two TDs missed.  The pass to the TE that should have been caught and the missed sideline pass.

24-10 at the end of Q3.
Looks like the game is going to turn out pretty much like everyone thought it would.

RE: SMU Game Thread - jacket3ree - 10-11-2025

No one else can field punts?

Last year, LOUV was up 35-21 in Q4 with under 10m to play. Then we scored 17.   But, that was in PA.
brobdingnagian diff between 2-4 and 3-3.

RE: SMU Game Thread - PalmTree - 10-11-2025

Oh, FGS! C'mon!

Edit in re the back to back flags

RE: SMU Game Thread - ADPinWDC - 10-11-2025

Get the ball to CJ Williams -- he is the gamer.
CJ has 6 catches for 100 yards.

TOUCHDOWN...!  To High.
Oh, no -- #51 Z.Brown -- hands to the face.  Didn't affect the play.  Gulbranson threw a strike.
NULLIFIED.

RE: SMU Game Thread - JJJ - 10-11-2025

That was such an unnecessary facemask penalty too. Didn’t need to pay any more attention to that defender.

RE: SMU Game Thread - ADPinWDC - 10-11-2025

WOW -- young Jerry Neuheisel as OC took over at UCLA and the Bruins are a different ball club.
What happened, now up on MIST 38-13 (7m left) after dunking ranked PNST last week.

Upon further review... that scenario was just erased by the painful 95-yard PICK-6 by SMU after Gulbranson's arm was hit.
[Sadly, my estimate of 38-13 SMU looks sagacious]

I doubt a 9am PT kickoff is much of a culprit here (too many penalties?)... 10 for 95yards
... but the O-Line is clearly getting WORSE by the week with injuries.
Offensive miscues killed us, self-inflicted -- not superior play by SMU.
The Defense started out GREAT in Q1.  No early start problem.

How many sacks today for Gulbranson?  SEVEN?

RE: SMU Game Thread - Solo77 - 10-11-2025

I believe we’ve had 2 drives with first and goal resulting in 0 points and a pick 6. Our red zone TD rate is not good

Right -- is there a stat for "Red Zone points scored by Opponent when we have the ball"?

So, our recovery track now is:  Host FLST next week, and then head to Hard Rock stadium MIAMI.  Easy.
So, 2-4 slouches to 2-6...  We needed this upset to make a bowl.
Then we handle PITT in PA, stomp NCAR there, slap down KALSucks, and host the Domers, who will be desperate for a Playoff spot.

So... how do we get to THREE wins? We bash Belichick, and finish... 3-9.

RE: SMU Game Thread - Row80Critic - 10-11-2025

It was a full team effort to lose this game, no doubt, but they should have tried a new QB after the Hawaii game.  Ain't no one's going to convince me otherwise...
