Ryelan Morris, a 4* WR/RB from Texas, has decommitted from Stanford. He's going to Baylor. Door #1? He was one of the highest rated players in this class for Stanford.

I've split the 2025+ and 2026+ recruiting threads to make this one. The 2025+ thread will be linked from the index post in the recruiting forum if you want to find it.

Every position is a position of need.

Commitments are basically meaningless. Even signings matter little, when a QB can just enroll early, and transfer out that summer to become starting QB at another school.

Dammit, now I have to reset the "Days since BC has pointed out that commitments are meaningless" counter back to zero. We were all the way up to 15!

it's the minor inconveniences that add up and really start to get on one's nerve.

I had a quick look at the recruiting class of 2022, who would be seniors or redshirt juniors now. With the caveat that this was a quick and dirty search, there were 22 recruits listed in the 24/7 page as enrollees in 2022, here are the members who are seniors or redshirt juniors on the roster now:
Sam Roush
Jason Thompson
Colin Wright
Ernest Cooper IV
Tevarua Tahiti
Matt Rose
Fisher Anderson
Zach Rowell
So, to quantify it, there is less than a 40% chance that any given recruit will still be on the roster by his academic senior year (senior or redshirt juniors year). Not quite meaningless, but at the same time, don’t get too attached. And bear in mind that is signees; a non-zero number of commits decommit before enrollment.

6 of those 22 signees were straight-up cut by coach Taylor after his first season, and another 2 medically retired.

Not sure of your point. Are you intimating that a >50% attrition is good, actually, or that there’s no way that our recruit will get injured and have to medically retired? My only point was that to the extent that the class of 2022 is illustrative (maybe it was an outlier and that a recruit committing today would actually have a much higher likelihood of still being on the team by the time he is an academic senior), I wouldn’t get too attached to any one commitment. Based on the data that I was able to muster in about 15 min, I think that admonition holds.

I'm thrilled we landed a big 3 star OT 2027 commit from AZ, Ben Lowther.
Looks like he's ranked top 40 OT in the country.
And was pursued by at least 6 other Power conference teams, all of them sporting better performing teams than us right now.
Congrats to our recruiting!
As to the likelihood or percentage he'll still be with us in 2030 or whatever, I'm actually more concerned about the percentage that I'll still be here in 2030.

When would be a good time to end this thread and start the 2027+ thread? I get the impression there's still a lot of 2026 recruiting to do in football, unlike basketball.

Per another site it appears we have an unknown commit.

Isn't there still the signing period in February for football?

Oops, I didn't check when either football signing period is. Maybe after the late signing period will be the right time to start a new thread.
