Andrew was part of the rebuilding when he came as was Shane. They should have a clear idea of what is needed from a coaching standpoint and player development standpoint.
Who would have thought that Stanford, Cal, Oregon St. and UCLA would be hiring new coaches in the same year.

Florida State came out today and said Mike Norvell has his job in 2026.
I wonder how much of that was due to having to raise the $55 million to get rid of him.

How much? $55 million how much, like most universities with major college sports programs FSU has lots of red ink on the books especially due to capital improvements to their athletic facilities.

It won't be until a little later that I'll be ready to start predicting our next coach, but I thought I'd re-post what a close friend of mine posted on TOS at this time in 2006. At that time, Nick Aliotti was rumored to be one of the candidates to succeed the fallen WLAT regime, and we both felt strongly that that direction would not lead anywhere good. His argument was succinct and impeccable:

Pretty circular stuff, it seems. But maybe that's the smoke. If Stanford could get Sumrall out from under LSU that would be at least optically impressive. Dude seems like he can coach, too.
Eric Morris (10-1 North Texas) is off to Oklahoma State. Will coach the Mean Green as far as they go this year, which could be the CFP.
Probably didn't look at him but should have.

And Yes, i know some of them dont have any D1 Head Coaching experience, but in my opinion, the #1 attribute for our Head Coach is we need someone 'who can attract & recruit HS Recruits & Transfers', & Has the "Charisma & Personality & Football Intensity" to move what is sometimes a 'Slow to Change & Lethargic, Moribund, Administration & FanBase'.
And yes, I know a few might have had issues earlier in their lives, but it is 'who they are now as people' that really matters:

I found the Cavalli piece to have a couple interesting nuggets. We have the most expensive 50 yard line seats in the ACC. His comments about Mora Jr. and his dad's connections to Stanford.

ColState languishing badly in the Mtn West conference, and do they really have a bigger visibility and player attraction than UConn?
Yes they will be joining reconstituted Pac-12 but will that suddenly make ColState more appealing than when in Mtn West?
Woulda thought he would get better offers (again though, no idea the pay at ColState)

I was on the search committee and cast the deciding vote to hire Walsh, who won by one vote over Paul Hackett. The others who voted for Bill could make the same claim, of course, but since I'm the only one still living, I'll claim the distinction.

I found this interesting as well. I'm an old fan. I remember, right after Jack Christiansen was fired in 1976, that Paul Hackett was high on my list. My rationale was what Hackett did with USC's QB at the time, Vince Evans. Evans had a completion percentage of 31% in 1975 (you can Google it if you don't believe me). Hackett turned Evans into a high draft pick and NFL starter. Of course, I had no idea who Bill Walsh was in 1976. It's amazing to think how the fortunes of Stanford football could have changed with one vote.

The selection of Bill Walsh may not have happen if Paul Brown and Bengals had promoted him from Offensive Coordinator to Head Coach, when that did not happen Walsh was off to San Diego as an assistant coach.

At the very least, I'd interview Hamilton a couple of times. I'm intrigued by him for a number of reasons. #1 is that he's a strong proponent of Jim Harbaugh's coaching philosophy on offense. He's also the guy who really brought "Intellectual Brutality" to Stanford. Harbaugh brought physical football to Stanford. After Harbaugh, and Luck, and some other key players on offense, Stanford became EVEN MORE physical. Part of Pep's reputation is that he's known for meeting his personnel where they are, and then scheming accordingly. Unlike someone like, say, Buddy Teevens, who tried to bring Florida to Stanford without considering the enormous difference in talent.
Hamilton is currently the OC at Maryland, and they're having a subpar season on offense. But that really doesn't discourage my interest. They have a weak OL and running game.
I have other reasons for liking Hamilton. I'd also interview SU's former OL Coach, Mike Bloomgren. Currently the OL coach for the Browns.

Just found out it's Tavita. I think Stanford Football just got a death penalty. Horrible choice! It's over for SU as far as ever again being relevant in my lifetime.
