Texas A&M indeed. The Aggies swept Wagner.

RE: Men's Tennis -- Spring 2026 - StanfordMatt - 05-03-2026

It wasn't the prettiest of tennis, but Razeghi battled through some nervy moments to win 6-4, 7-5 and seal a 4-2 upset.

On to the round of 16 and a date with #6 TCU.

I pity those folks who thought they could stop the Stanford Onslaught into the Round of 16.

Now it gets very difficult to advance.

With Banerjee back at #2, I'm more optimistic about our chances. We were at one point #2 in the country earlier this season when he was playing.

Unlikely, yes. But we have a win over the #1 team in the country and Banerjee back at what appears to be full strength is big. With the junk scoring system used in college tennis anything can happen.

TCU swept Stanford today 4-0 in the NCAA round of 16 and it wasn't particularly close.

thanks to those of you who have been posting about Stanford tennis.
you might remember Nishesh Basavareddy, who played for us for two years and did quite well.  he just beat 7th-seeded Taylor Fritz in the 1st round of the French Open, 7-6 7-6 6-7 6-1.  an impressive win.

Gave me flashbacks of when Derrick Rostagno defeated then #1 in the world, Ivan Lendl.

Derrick had a career record of 2-3 against Lendl and recall was as high as ranked ~50 in the world. He's now a lawyer in the L.A. area.

RE: Men's Tennis -- Spring 2026 - Lorcan - 07-04-2026

A Stanford connection at Wimbledon as Brit Arthur Fery is now in the fourth round after a five set triumph in the third. Berrettini or Dimitrov up next.

RE: Men's Tennis -- Spring 2026 - Spiny_Norman - 07-06-2026

Fery is into the quarterfinals with a 5th set tiebreaker win over Dimitrov! He'll face 9th seed Cobolli.

Fery was the first Stanford player in the 4th round in 30 years, since David Wheaton in 1996. Now maybe the first quarterfinalist since McEnroe.

i know he has talent, but the quarterfinals of Wimbledon?
that's amazing.

RE: Men's Tennis -- Spring 2026 - DC 86 - 07-06-2026

He was down 2-1 in sets and down a break in the fourth set, came back and won the fifth set in a tiebreaker, in an awesome clutch performance. He grew up in Wimbledon; he said his childhood home is five minutes from the All England Club.

he grew up playing at Wimbledon.  his mom is a member.

Fery sweeps Cobolli including a 6-0 bagel in the 3rd set! On to the semifinals where he will play #2 seed Alexander Zverev on Friday.

It's really a "Fery" tale for Fery who becomes one of the very few qualifiers ever to make a Grand Slam semifinal.

RE: Men's Tennis -- Spring 2026 - Lorcan - 07-08-2026

It was a fun match to watch. One quibble - Fery was a wild card rather than a qualifier.

Absolutely wonderful scenes to watch and fun to see the Stanford representation in the crowd.

It'll be a tall order to keep marching, but hope springs eternal.

They might have to rename Murray Mound or Henman Hill into Fery Fell or Arthur's Seat.

correct on McEnroe, from the AD on Facebook

Quote:With today’s victory, Arthur Fery became the first Stanford semifinalist Wimbledon since John McEnroe in 1992
