So many missed routine shots.
16 turnovers is coaching. Line violation is player anticipation

Yes, can’t miss this many shots at the rim. And Syracuse has hit several circus shots close. Big swing in points in a low scoring game.
Lepolo’s worst trait is her turnovers usually turn into layups the other way.

I thought of this a couple of weeks ago given turnovers. We need better male practice players.

We need better something. This game isn't even particularly close.

So many missed layups today too. At least 3 point blank from Clardy alone, Agara, and Somfai that I can just remember offhand. Maybe just chalk this game up to the long travel. Syracuse is a long ways from home. Not to mention the fact Syracuse doesn't even have their best player today. That makes it even more disappointing.
The trajectory the past few weeks (the team does not look to be improving) has me concerned that things could spiral the next few weeks with Cal, Louisville, and ND next on the schedule next. This could turn into a 4 game losing streak real quick and like that we'll be out of March Madness or on the bubble in a very weak ACC this year.

Tournament hopes are definitely in jeopardy now. And frankly, not making the tournament would make this season a failure.

a few days ago. I posted that it was still early and had plenty of time to win enough games to get into the tournament. Now I’m not so sure.

After having 3 really good quarters, Somfai has not scored in the 4th.
RE: WBB Stanford vs Syracuse -
Hieronymus - 01-18-2026
So Somfai mostly got shut down in the second half and nobody else stepped up. Offensive rebounding
Picked up; but when you can’t finish those rebounds, it doesn’t matter much.
- Agara 5-20 shooting doesn’t get it done.
- Ogden with only 4 shots doesn’t work
- Swain 0-6, 1 rebound, 1 assist and 5 turnovers is a really rough day.
- Somfai only 2 points in the second half after 15 in the first.
Really nothing worked on offense in the second half.

big game from lepolo. 2 pts, 2assists
glad we had her in game at the end
RE: WBB Stanford vs Syracuse -

Radio notes that Syracuse had 12 more FT made than Stanford (16 more FTA by Syracuse), covering the 11 point difference.
Edit: Syracuse was 13/16 at the Free Throw line in the 4th. Stanford was losing pretty well before that. But still...
Through 3 quarters, Syracuse was 6/8, Stanford 5/6.

Yeah, the Board would have really dumped on her if she had an 0fer day and 5 TO.

Oh wow, you don't see this often:
Stanford had more offensive rebounds than defensive rebounds.
That's a testament to the poor shooting (or maybe to uncalled fouls).
On the Stanford end: Stanford 21 OR; Syracuse 23 DR: Stanford: 47.7%
At the Syracuse end: Stanford 19 DR; Syracuse 9 OR.: Stanford: 67.9%

i wonder about travel as well.
i thought the coaching was ok for a change. we had so many post-to-post passes for the lay-up, which imo is exactly what we have left out in past games. and this board has been calling for passes to the post. but then we missed the lay-up...and missed the lay-up...and missed the lay-up.

Yeah, the Board would have really dumped on her if she had an 0fer day and 5 TO.
Cumulatively, our four guards (Lepolo, Swain, Clardy, and Ijiwoye):
19 points (17 of which came from Clardy and Ijiwoye), 8/28 (28.6%) shooting, 1/5 (20%) from 3, 2/2 free throws, 8 rebounds (again, 7 of which came from the bench players), 8 assists (4 from Clardy), 10 turnovers (5 from Swain), 5 steals. Just a brutal day for the guards any which way you cut it. Clardy was probably the most productive, but she was 3/13 shooting (23%), and 9 points off 13 shoots is very inefficient, and Swain just had a day to forget.
Also, Eschmeyer played 9 minutes and only attempted 1 shot, which was a three pointer, which she missed. 1 rebound in 9 minutes. You can’t teach height, but you do have to teach how to use it effectively. MAS was just as invisible in 7 minutes.
