I’d like the AD to focus on establishing more connection and experience with the local community - build back the multi-generational fan base and reestablish traditions that create bonds.

Fancy seats and fancy food doesn’t do it.

Some of the ideas do create experiences for families and I support them

On the bright side, this will improve stanford stadium's allure with BTS, World Cup, and other similar events.

IMO that may not be the case. For these events, what matters is butts in the seats. They have no problem attracting the crowds. The proposed renovations will reduce the stadium capacity somewhat to provide a "better" experience to some of the attendees. Fewer vastly overpriced seats = lower gross income. Stanford OTOH does have a problem filling the stadium for football games. They are hoping that by adding alternatives to actually watching the game they can attract more patrons.

The "good" thing about having the venue be the attraction is that Stanford can be sure that year over year the venue is "nice". They can't OTOH guarantee the football team will be worth watching. That said, I seriously doubt a "nicer" Stanford stadium is going to materially affect attendance. If the game isn't enough reason to be there, why would a nicer venue attract anybody? If you want to go to an air-conditioned bar, just do that. Much easier, cheaper, and the parking is probably better. You can then watch any game you want on the big screen TVs.

I also believe that asking existing season ticket holders about the proposed alterations isn't a great way to "grow the brand". These people already pay a sizeable price to watch the football game. While "better" amenities may play a role in keeping these customers, it is probably a minor one. These people will undoubtedly care more about the product on the field than they do the "game day experience". What Stanford needs is "new" attendees, and that isn't us.

as I recall the field is too small for the world cup given their requirements for total area not just the field of play (as I recall by a small amount which at the time of the remodel people wondered why they did not make field a bit larger)

apparently there currently is a limit of three concerts in the stadium each year so I doubt luxury boxes will help, and areas to play games instead of seats would hurt as they could otherwise be seats

I agree with the above, they really need to get input from non-ticket buyers and probably maybe former ticket buyers.  Those of us still buying tickets are not likely to be excited about the potential renovations especially if the team does not get any better.....I'm in a group that has gone from ~24 people to seven, lots of reasons why that have all be written about over the years, none of them have left because the stadium was not nice enough.

+1

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, I learned a lot more from exit interviews than I ever did from employee surveys. We used that info to make lasting changes (well, lasted 'til the next change in leadership) that drastically cut down employee turnover.

Heck I go to Rockies games mostly just because the stadium is fun to hang out in and there are great viewing spots if you are willing to stand; so buy the cheapest seat and never sit in it. Works even though the Rockies are terrible and have been for years. They still get pretty solid attendance numbers overall - 18th in the league last year.

Agreed. Giants flat out suck, but I still make it to Oracle a few times a year. Venue makes a difference.
