Basically three three and outs on offense so far, and one long drive with a penalty bail out that kept the drive alive in the red zone.
On defense, bend but don't break finally broke, with Hawaii getting consecutive possessions in plus territory.

Did not have Atticus Joseph on my players-to-watch list, but he looks like a vet out there and obviously has the trust of coaches/Warren. I like it.

Decent first half, given first game.
-- 268 Total yards. Balanced.
Snuffed them on D, except one series

A) Defense squelching Alejado well, except one drive for their TD. Our LBs are jacked. .
B) Balanced attack by Cardinal.
Micah Ford running well, against a mediocre defense. He will go over 100 yds easy.
Not many penalties, miscues Good.
NEEDS WORK
C) Warren throws well, but needs to look at film to adjust his reads. Missing some open guys.
10-19, 132 yds at half. One TD.
D) No excuse on the blocked field goal close
E) Sedrick Irvin cannot read holes.
We don't have a third RB.
Lack of depth at Stanford is scary.

No. 49 on defense is living up to (my internal) hype. Gabe Kaminski (1.5 sacks, on pass break-up) for Voldemort!
Love that Tavita is playing the true frosh receivers. Best players play, as it absolutely should be. Good message to the team, imo.
Who will win this game? Alejado is the best player on the field, imo, but the defense is giving him major problems. Going to need more points, tho. Probably another nailbiter.

It is NOT sustainable for Ford to get 30 carries a game, so agree that seeming lack of RB depth is a big problem. Might not bite Stanford today, however. Just have to find a way to win today.

Didn't hate the failed fourth-down play call, but at that point Ford was pretty clearly fatigued (don't blame him). Really need a strong No. 2 RB or more trust in the passing game.
EDIT: Nevermind! Refs gift? Stanford a TD, saying Ford didn't fumble until after the ball crossed the goalline.

Tavita must have sacrificed an expensive cut of meat to the zebra gods before the game. Went into the commercial break up 16-7 and Hawaii with the ball at their own 1, and came out of it up 22-7 and about to kick a PAT. The tape did support Micah Ford getting the ball over the goal line before fumbling, but only by inches.

The defense is playing lights out. Exceeding anyone's reasonable expectations, I think.
Alejado no longer terrifying, merely causing unease.
