But there are at least four Costcos just to keep things in perspective.

I do find the photo that I posted to be a more interesting, from a purely perpective standpoint.

I would also agree that you can find funny pictures of any fans.  And if orange is funny and cowboy hats are funny you can find many UT funny pictures.  And if uniformed men escorting a collie and men with crew cuts in denim overalls is funny, you may have more luck googling the Ags.

No, fullmetal was joking, and it was readily apparent to most on this board. Kathy and fullmetal have been able to get along on this board for several years despite their being fans of different schools that were formerly part of the same conference. You might want to spend some time reading his posts.

You might also want to spend some time reading your posts both on here and on Shaggy Bevo to determine whether it's simply the subject that has people upset or something else.

Re: Longhorn Network woes - oman - 02-17-2012

You're the only person that appears upset but your opinion is noted, if not fully understood.

This board is odd.  Most other sports or fan boards remind you of big Italian or even a Jewish get together where everybody just talks and talks and sometimes they say inappropriate things and the next holiday they show up and start up again with (seemingly) no hard feelings.  This one is like an east coast protestant get together where some things "just aren't talked about".

Which makes it somewhat intriguing but a bit inscrutable.

No, I was being serious about the photoshopping.  There's at least one clear sign, and I believe there are two more suspicious telltales.

Quote:Kathy comes on once in a while and throws out her aggy-isms

My posting of the Longhorn Network story had more to do with my distaste for UT's conference maneuvers than it did my fondness for Aggies. The animosity toward Texas isn't an "aggie-ism"; it's pretty widespread in the Big 12. But the story held interest for me primarily because of the information about the expected success of the Big Ten Network and the soon-to-debut Pac-12 Network.

Please enlighten us. I thought you were kidding, too.

Okay.  I just deleted my response to Kathy.

Grade A, top notch agitation.

Re: Longhorn Network woes - fullmetal - 02-18-2012

So the first thing that stood out to me was the lack of depth/perpective for the text and graphic on the shirt itself.  Specifically, the white-to-orange gradient on the right horn tip doesn't follow the curve of the shirt at all.  Ditto for the text, which looks really straight for being screenprinted on a t-shirt and worn by someone with a rather non-planar body.  The graphic on the hat look similarly stiff and without depth for something that should be following the curve of a human skull.  You can also see the single-tone blotching on the shirt behind the text and above it where some erasing has been done.

It's possible that the original shirt color was burnt orange, but you can apply filters to change that too (definitely more complex than what's obviously been altered with the image).  But this photo has been altered significantly.

Re: Longhorn Network woes - Extra Point - 02-18-2012

If someone used Photoshop to alter this picture than they went to a lot of trouble. You can get a better view when the image is enlarged. There are no abrupt edges between the "Texas" and the cup or hand. The text is in the correct perspective. The T is clearly larger than the S. It was not done with a simple rotation. The shadows on the T and the S are consistent with the shadows on the shirt.

Re: Longhorn Network woes - fullmetal - 02-18-2012

I didn't say this was done in MS Paint.  This still looks like a photoshop job for all of the aforementioned reasons you didn't address.

If that's photoshopped...it's really good.  I can't tell.

"If that's photoshopped...it's really good.  I can't tell."

Enlarge the picture and look at the borders between the hand and the lettering, as well as the borders between the lettering and the shirt. Photoshoping is very apparent in the last photo.

Re: Longhorn Network woes - fullmetal - 02-18-2012

I guess everything is photoshopped these days then, awesome.

You went to all that effort and didn't even make him a dirty golden bear? or a d-d-d-d-uck? or a condom? or, more likely, a truculent but overweight leprechaun?

Re: Longhorn Network woes - oman - 02-18-2012

Good lord, if I knew how to photo shop I'd have way more neg rep.

Impressed with the catch fullmetal.

So the OU logo was the original?  I can buy that... :p

Re: Longhorn Network woes - oman - 08-31-2012

AT&T Uverse just picked it up.

Going to be interesting how this plays out.  I get to see some of my daughter's soccer buds play some soccer games! If I switch to Uverse.

It's hard for me to think this thing is not going to simply morph depending on how the conferences go, which will probably morph depending on how a playoffs in college football develop.

And that is leaving out technology entirely.

Re: Longhorn Network woes - fullmetal - 08-31-2012

There is much rejoicing on my facebook friend feed with this news.  At least one of my friends decided not to cancel her Uverse, at least through football season :)

Crap! Crappitty Crap Crap! - Redrum - 08-31-2012

After  AT&T sent out the fifteenth dunderhead who swore our home phone service was perfectly fine [it invariably cut out completely in damp, rain and cold weather]  I swore I would spend what's left of my miserable life killing any AT&T employee I could draw a bead on.  It's working wonders for my attitude and the body count climbs steadily.

Now...UVerse is supposedly carrying the Pac-12 Network so I have to choose whether to deal with the devil.  And,  1) It means converting over to DSL internet with the higher speed options wiping out any savings over Comcast, AND  2) the only way to get it is to sign a long term commitment with a big price bump in the second year.

The Revenge/Comcast option is cheaper...or at least more satisfying.  And I already invested in a sniper scope. Best money I ever spent.
