Washington state can complete any pass they want at any time, usually for 8 yards.

At least their running game is pretty much the definition of futility. But yes pretty concerning how easily they're able to pass on us. I am envious.

Just got a view of that TD pass again. Looks like the CB blitzed, good recognition by Nunes to make the throw.

Can Stanford's offense get multiple TDs in the second half? That's what it's going to take to win this game.

Playcalling taking waaay too long on both sides if the ball. I saw at least two times on both offense and defense where the play didn't come in until 10 seconds were on the play clock.
My concern, though, is where's the blueprint from Big Game?? Shaw called it a "blueprint" game and yet he's
still forcing the passing game.
GO STANFORD!!!

They have basically doubled our offensive production in the first half. 223 yards to 112 yards. I just got back from dinner. We are lucky to be tied. What I saw of the last drive before halftime, Tuel is carving us up.
Our defense is not athletic enough to carry us against teams that run a basic spread offense. We need Nunes to step up in the 2nd half.

Yes we can. Let's just run goal line and I formations all game. Short pass and inside run plays with Stepfan. This is the winning strategy, IMO.
But can our secondary defend some passes? That's the question. We didn't do well against Arizona. Our secondary had trouble last season. For whatever reason our spread passing defense is weak. We do better against pro style passing attacks.
Maybe it's because we are too physical on defense? Not enough speed to defend? How can we do well stopping Marquis Lee and Robert Woods with Barkley throwing but we cannot defend the pass against teams like Washington State?

Half Stanford 10 Cougs 10 -
JohnR34231 - 10-27-2012
Given that neither team is able to run the ball effectively, it looks like the second half is going to come down to their passing offense against ours.
Can't say that gives you a lot of warm fuzzies about the outcome.

Shaw looked pissed. If Nunes isn't productive in the second half, I wouldn't be shocked if there is a QB change.

Just can't tell how much of this is the kind of problem that can be addressed by means of a mental wake up and halftime adjustments. As opposed to the worse scenario, that this is a more objective mismatch of our weaknesses versus their strengths.
