Quote:Andrew is just saving all his marketing fire power for the soon to be introduced Neckbeard Comb.

I've noticed some marked improvement in his facial grooming. I think that someone's been in his ear about keeping it "clean cut".

Re: News from Stanford East - fullmetal - 09-06-2013

I can't imagine it feels comfortable having a neckbeard and dealing with a helmet chin strap.

Also, I hope Luck turns out 7 touchdowns this week (to Hilton/Fleener please?) because he's my fantasy QB, and my opponent played Peyton Manning last night.

Re: News from Stanford East - Farm93 - 09-13-2013

Uh oh,

RB Ballard tore his ACL on Thursday (Sep 12).  For those out there that have seen the Colts, the offense is essentially Luck to Wayne with the occasional run by Ballard to keep the DL a little honest.  Luck, almost alone, behind that really bad OL could get ugly.

Re: News from Stanford East - FarmBoy - 09-13-2013

They picked up Ahmahd Bradshaw in the off season to add some punch to the running game, but he sat out a lot of training camp and the pre-season recovering from injury. Hopefully he finds his groove now.

That OLine did not look good in week 1. They spent a decent chunk of change in the off season which didn't look like it paid off in that area.

In other news, former Duck Dion Jordan, now with the Dolphins, is talking about how he never lost to Luck and doesn't plan on starting now. I guess that means he didn't play during the 2009 game?

Re: News from Stanford East - Bruce Wang - 09-13-2013

I watched most of the game against the Raiders.  Luck's protection was as bad as last year despite all the supposed upgrades on the o-line.  And their defense made Terrell Pryor looklike Colin Kaepernick until the last drive of the game.

Ballard's injury just makes me more angry they didn't draft Kulabafi.  I wonder if they are thinking of giving Chase a tryout.

Re: News from Stanford East - fullmetal - 09-13-2013

Luck is really going to have to carry the Colts now without Ballard.  At least they picked up DHB, whose butterfinger problems are hopefully behind him now.

Re: News from Stanford East - Rando - 09-13-2013

Bradshaw is the best blocking HB in the league, so I've heard. If they can protect Luck better, the Ballard injury could be a blessing in disguise.

Re: News from Stanford East - Bruce Wang - 09-15-2013

Watching Colts-Fins right now.  Fleener has made a couple great receptions inc a TD grab.

Their defense on the other hand is playing like the My Little Ponies.  I bet Irsay and Grigson are sitting there thinking "we hired the wrong Stanford assistant."  I wouldn't be surprised if they poached Mason mid-season.  I'm at peace with Mason leaving.  It's gonna happpen sooner rather than later, and I'd rather he show up in the NFL than a potential college opponent.  If it's Stanford East, all the better.

Re: News from Stanford East - FarmBoy - 09-18-2013

Fleener will have every opportunity to show he deserved that high draft pick. The Colt's other 2nd year TE phenom is out for the season.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9689133/dwayne-allen-indianapolis-colts-needs-season-ending-hip-surgery

He had a pretty good game on Sunday (4 catches, 69 yards, 1TD), although it sounds like a second TD was negated that would have evened the score and likely resulted in a Colts win (I missed the first half of the game when it occurred so I don't know the details.)

Hopefully he and Andrew can find that connection that made them a special combo from the Orange Bowl through the 2011 season.

Re: News from Stanford East - Leftcoast - 09-18-2013

And hopefully that connection starts in two weeks time but not THIS week.

Re: News from Stanford East - fullmetal - 09-18-2013

Big news.  Colts just traded a 1st round draft pick for Trent Richardson.  Colts are still missing their OL.

Also, Dwayne Allen is out for the season with hip surgery needed.  Coby Fleener is now their top tight end (possibly only tight end).  I think all the two-TE sets the Colts had in their playbook just got flushed.

Andrew's gonna have to carry this team, but he's got a legit running back to help.  They both need an OL.

That's a dumb trade. They need offensive linemen, bad. (Or else their scheme is awful.)

Really worried Luck's going to get David Carr'ed.

Re: News from Stanford East - Deja Vu edition - Bruce Wang - 09-18-2013

Bradshaw looked good enough to me.  I, too, am disappointed in this trade.  I was hoping the Colts were going to draft Yankey.

In all honesty, they might have a shot at Yankey in the mid second round.  I know that might seem like heresy here, but guards don't usually get drafted very high, last year was more of an exception, also when you think of where David DeCastro went, at 24, it's not that hard to believe.  I think DeCastro was a much better prospect than Yankey.

Re: News from Stanford East - fullmetal - 09-18-2013

The knock on Bradshaw is that he's brittle and old for an RB.  Plus the Colts lost Vick Ballard for the season, so I guess trading what could end up being a late first-round draft pick for someone picked earlyish might be a win of sorts.  Rumors of Trent Richardson's displeasure at playing for the Browns might have hastened management's willingness to ship him out.  Hard to run a tight ship if your stud player continues wanting out--but now you've set a precedent of sorts.  Welcome Josh Gordan, Cleveland's WR1, back from his two-game suspension--you've got no run support, and your quarterback next week is Hoyer, to which I said: who?  (Weeden has a sprained thumb.)

Maybe T-Rich can make up for the unimpressive Colts OL, but my gut feeling is that he won't.  But opposing defenses will surely respect Richardson, so Luck would do well to run play action on every passing play.

Jim "Captain Comeback" Harbaugh v Andrew "Colonel Comeback" Luck in SI - Bruce Wang - 09-20-2013

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2013/football/nfl/wires/09/18/2020.ap.fbn.harbaugh.and.luck.1st.ld.writethru.1096/

Who are people cheering for in the Ex-Stanford Bowl this Sunday?  My guess is the current and former Bay Area folks are going with the Niners.  The rest of us will cheer for the Colts.

BTW Harbs commits "the he's faster than you think" fallacy.

Re: News from Stanford East - FarmBoy - 09-20-2013

This will be one of the few Sundays I don't root for the 9ers. I wasn't raised in the Bay Area, but I did grow up a fan of Steve Young and Jerry Rice, so I've rooted for the 49ers over any other team (I grew up near Philly, but why would you want to root for a team whose fans are such goons?) But even growing up, I would still root for the Broncos to beat the 49ers, because of Elway.

But I'm doubtful of Indy's chances here. Luck is going to have to be flawless with that OLine he's behind.

Same here

Re: News from Stanford East - Leftcoast - 09-20-2013

I'm a college football fan primarily except when it comes to the 49ers.

On Sunday I want Andrew to throw for 400+ yards, including 3 TDs to Fleener, not get sacked .... AND LOSE.
