Re: First secret crush - SUBuddha - 07-01-2015

First crush Tanya Dore in 2nd grade, we dated for 28 hours.
First celebrity crush: Linda Carter.

Favorite athlete as a kid: Steve Largent
Favorite local athlete: Same (the Seahawks practiced at my high school during the '87 strike).
Athlete I wanted to be: Kenny Easley, that man could lay a hit like no other safety I have seen aside from Lott and Lynch.

We're doing celebrity crushes too?  Ok, my first was either Tiffani Thiessen as Kelly Kapowski or Amy-Jo Johnson as the Pink Ranger.

Favorite athlete was Griffey, Jr.
Favorite local athlete was probably Steve Young.

I had crushes on two women I had not even seen.  Thanks, Buddy and Roy, for crushing my life.  For awhile.

Not so much, but the woman on the GPS might be.

Same-Sex Crush - Red State - 07-02-2015

I was in the 3rd grade when I became obsessed with Green Packer QB, Bart Starr. Of course, now the pop culture expression for a non-sexual admiration of a male figure is "Man Crush". First romantic crush? My 4th grade teacher, who just happened to be the HS sweetheart of former Oakland Raider QB, Darryl Lamonica.

Re: First secret crush - Hulk01 - 07-02-2015

The first athlete's name that comes to me is Earl "The Pearl" Monroe.  I wanted to be a Globertrotter, and Earl proved you could be one and still play in the NBA.

I liked Champagne Tony Lema, too.  Maybe nicknames help.

And Ken "Hawk" Harrelson, which may prove it.  Love his threads, and Doug Sanders', too.

I may have posted before that I was at the party that Pre attended the night he died.  He was compelling, the most alive person I've ever met.

Sherman was my favorite Stanford football player ever, even before he turned pro.  Didn't pass through the nickname screen, of course, but that may show how special he was.  Same with Lenny Moore.  Not sure he'd have made this list if he hadn't sported spats, a clue that athlete's wardrobes influenced whom I chose as a favorite.  But Walter "Clyde" Frazier has both the nickname and the closets stuffed with cool stuff, and he was just ok with me.

No love for Frenchy Fuqua and his goldfish shoes?

Re: First secret crush - Hulk01 - 07-02-2015

I didn't like Frenchy's name.  It sounded ugly to my ears.

But all those F's remind me that I really like Nick Faldo.Â
