Acccording to 247sports, Zach Buckey has offers from, among others, Air Force, Army and Navy and Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Penn, Princeton and Yale. Brown needs to step up.
As previously noted, his dad, Jeff, played OL at Stanford and was a seventh round pick in the 1996 NFL draft. Jeff played four seasons in the NFL, three with the Dolphins and one with the 49ers.
Zach throws the discus, as did his dad. As far as his college choice, back in April Zach said: "It's a big decision to make and I'm nowhere close to making it. It's gonna have to be somewhere where it has great academics. It's gotta have a great football team, great track team, possibly. And, I just want to feel at home there."

Don't forget that Ben Gardner was a 2-star prospect with offers from Stanford, Eastern Illinois, North Dakota, Northern Iowa, South Dakota and South Dakota State. Ben went to high school in Thiensville, WI. Zach goes to high school in Bakersfield. I know that Bakersfield has had some star high school football players who were highly successful in college and the NFL--Frank Gifford may be the most famous?--but I don't think it gets the kind of attention from P5 programs that you see in LA, Orange County, San Diego and the Bay Area.

I can answer that: he has not been admitted.
DL was a priority position in this class (and I'd argue it's a priority position in EVERY class), and the board looks absolutely terrible right now.

Jeff Buckey was the CA Gatorade or whatever at that time Athlete of the Year. In T&F Great discus thrower. Son is at 173 not great but good and of course threw only one or twice this past season.

FWIW I think a couple of our commits are better than their ratings suggest. Jack Leyrer is one (USC and Texas both offered recently and wanted him bad). Brendon Barrow (last year was his first playing football in the US, and he's freakishly athletic) and Jaden Slocum (offer list is absolutely insane for a 3*) as well.

Are they all developmental prospects? Can we really develop them in the age of Shaw?

Well, at least he has offers from a handful of P5 schools (Syracuse, BC, and WSU). But yes, we are offering some people we probably hadn't planned to offer.
