Jones is such a dynamic player. Hope she decides on Stanford. A class of Betts, Gardiner, Rice and Jones would be our best recruiting class ever. You could swap Jackson for any of those players and still have a best ever class.

So Stanford is a finalist for more top players than we have scholarships for. Obviously not all can have active, committable offers. I suppose there are some who haven't updated their lists to remove Stanford, and/or some who are hoping for an offer if a slot opens.

BobK, a few updates:
1. We made 6-2 wing Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda's top-10, along with UCLA, Oregon, Texas, Clemson, Vanderbilt, Louisville, Iowa State, Duke, and Maryland.
2. Joyce Edwards, a 6-2 forward from South Carolina (considered a top-3 2024), can be added to the 2024 list. An article on her says: "On the recruiting side of things, playing with FBC United this summer paid off big with Joyce receiving six new offers from Vanderbilt, Louisville, Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh, Florida State and North Carolina. She already had an offer from her home-state school, South Carolina. In addition to those schools, she has also been receiving a lot of interest from Stanford and Clemson."

This is a 2025, so a *very* long way out, but 2025 5’10” guard Keeley Parks from Oklahoma lists Stanford among the schools showing interest. Already has seven P5 offers so she will be a good one.

Tangential thought: does a #1 ranking, final four appearance or national championship have a meaningful impact on women's hoops recruiting at Stanford? There is no doubt it has a significant impact for schools that don't have academic restrictions, but I don't see how it expands our pool in any significant way, though it may help with academic qualifiers who may be on the fence about Stanford for one reason or another.
I'd love to see this team giving our recruiting a little lift, but I'm doubtful that it can make much of a difference, as much as I'd like to hope otherwise. Thoughts?

Do you think regular NY6 bowl game appearances have an impact on football recruiting?
The academics first kids are always going to give Stanford a good, long look.
But it's the sports first kids who want to play for a championship where FF appearances make a difference. And there are some sports first kids who have the academic chops to hurdle admissions, even if sport is their first love. [indeed, there may be several of them on the WBB team right now]. So yes, I think it matters.
Now, given Stanford women's basketball success over the years (including many FF appearances), the women's team may already also be in the "championship contender" category for most all recruits (unlike football). But if you go on a dry spell of no FF appearances, then I think it would impact recruiting.

I had the same idea/hope after we made the 5 consecutive Final Four appearances from 2008 to 2012 (especially given the pay in the WNBA) and for a couple years, we were seen as the only potential challenger to the Maya Moore-led UConn juggernaut of that era, but our recruiting did not noticeably pick up (as in getting top 5/top 10 recruits) during the mid-teens after our phenomenal run. It took us ten years to get another #1 recruit after Chiney in Haley for instance and I believe Kiana was our first top 10 recruit during that period, too, though Erica was on the cusp at #11.
It's only been in the last couple years that our recruiting has really jumped up in terms of raw prospect rankings with Haley at #1 and Brink at #3.
But because of our academic requirements, it's more difficult to potentially judge the impact as we may just be unlucky for a stretch of years in terms of the top prospects being academically eligible and wanting to play for us. Katie Lou famously chose UConn over us, but I am not sure if she had been an only child rather than had 2 older sisters who went to Stanford if she would have picked us, as she mentioned wanting to forge a different path from her siblings.

I agree that the success of the WBB team definitely matters and impacts recruiting. Winning a championship obviously is brobdingnagian. But getting to Final Fours, being ranked in the top 10, getting talked about in ESPN, all these things matter as well.
My evidence of this is Duke women's basketball. For a while they were competing with us (and other schools) for the top recruits. Then they hit a rough patch basketball wise and their recruiting plummeted. Still a great school with great academics but suddenly none of the top recruits were considering them. Their charismatic new head coach could certainly change things but they have definitely fallen from where they were with recruiting.
