Pretty scary watching us pitch in any game that is rather close, but really fun to watch us hit. Hard to believe that it has been 50 years since we had a team with a top 10 all time ERA ranking. The 60's and early 70's were amazing pitching years. Is the ball somehow easier to hit, or was the ball deader back in the day? With the exception of saves, almost all individual pitching records are 20 years old or older. No one seems to go 9 innings any longer.

Bob, did they really raise the mound in college ball?

Today the only average that matters is HRpG.

You say entertaining. I say another heart attack somehow avoided.

Should Stanford win it all, just imagine what good theater the late victories would make.

Senior Day game is not starting so well.
Zona leads 5-2 T3 as Dugan runs into hot bats.

We have two weeks to find a third starter or we’re facing the prospect of an ugly hodgepodge of bullpen games in the postseason.

Who's the second starter?
RE: Stanford Baseball 2023 -
StanfordMatt - 05-14-2023
I would think Dixon.

Seems like the best candidate at the moment since Scott has been struggling.

Too bad the same pitcher is unable to pitch (as a starter) 2-3 days in a row. I see softball pitchers able to do this frequently.
Our pitching is non-existent today. Zona is a good hitting team but we're overly generous today. 10-16 at the seventh inning stretch.

Rios ties it up with a 3-run homer with two outs, because … that’s what we do.
Never give up. Never surrender.

Now down by 3. Rios needs a grand slam for the home run cycle. Stay tuned.
