Reminds me of the 1985 49ers vs. the Cincinnati Bengals in the Super Bowl. Montana led the 49ers to a comeback win. Niners scored 13 of their 20 points in the 4th quarter. I'm left to wonder why they couldn't score in the first three quarters.
Still, some common strengths at offensive positions:
Montana = Purdy
Roger Craig = McCaffrey
Rice = Aiyuk
John Taylor = Deebo
John Frank = Kittle
Rathman = Juszczyk
Wallace = Williams
Barton = McKivitz
Cross = Brendel
Lots of similarities. Would rather have Jesse Sapolu and Guy McIntyre than the guards we currently have.
The 49er Super Bowl defense was very different from this year's defense. The DBs (Lott, Fuller, Wright, McKyer) were the strength of that unit. Line (Carter, Fagan, Roberts) was strong. LBs except for Haley were good, not great (Ellison, Walter

Bill Romanowski was a rookie in 1988 and was a good LB, even had a pick in the Super Bowl. Michael Walter and Riki Ellison were better than people think. I remember at the time lamenting they weren't Mike Singletary or even Vaughn Johnson, but they were on two Super Bowl winning teams - though Ellison was hurt and replaced by Matt Miller in 1989) so couldn't have been that bad!
Speaking of comebacks, this is the most bizarre one the Niners have ever had, one year previously, in 1987. Good one in honor of Bill Walsh's Birthday yesterday.

As for Niners at Eagles, I'm heartened by these facts:
Niners 42 Cowboys 10
Cowboys 23 Eagles 28 (Cowboys with ball at 6 yard line and under a minute left before imploding)
Niners 31 Seahawks 13 (really should have been no more than 6, but 0 Offensive TDs allowed)
Seahawks 35 Cowboys 41
If the Eagles barely beat Cowboys, the Niners crushed them and the Seahawks, and the Seahawks were driving for game winning TD in final minute in Dallas, it seems the Niners will beat the Eagles.
Comparative scores are a useless way to forecast.

Nice can of whip a— put on Eagles. Cant believe it, but I’ll be a Cowboys fan next week.
Stars came out. Purdy conducted his orchestra beautifully. Also, Wilks deserves credit. Especially since I fired him 4 weeks ago……. Eagles clicked early. Especially on slants. After first Q Eagles offense was essentially Hurts running around trying to find someone. Totally took them out of their rhythm. Great job.

CBS Sports gave the 49ers an "A" and the Eagles a "D" for the worst loss Jalen Hurts has suffered as an Eagles QB.

The Athletic reports that the 49ers have won four in a row by double digits in which they have outgained their opponents by 100 or more yards. 8th team in history to do that, last one was in 2014.

Purdy threw for four TDs. Stanford's own Christian McCaffrey had a rushing TD and 133 yards from scrimmage. Deebo shined with three TDs. Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings had TDs. Dre Greenlaw was ejected for the combination of a roughness foul tackling an Eagle player, and poking the Eagle's head of security. The Eagle's HoS was also ejected.
It's the largest margin of victory (23 points) over a 10-1 or better team since 2012.

I expect another meeting in January. Terrific Niner win. But they had a little bit of a schedule advantage for this one (which given the disadvantages earlier was welcome).
The all important home field advantage could be decided by Elliott hitting a 59 yarder and Moody missing a 41 yarder. Obviously not truly the case. But if Philly wins by a game, it certainly stands out.

Current playoff picture is three different 9-3 versus 6-6 matchups, SF/GB, DET/MIN, ATL/DAL. Going by record that means DAL@PHI and SF/DET in the next round. It would be great if the Niners can overtake Philly, but there's still work to be done there, so the race between SF and DET then determines where that game is played.

The thing is, it can cost a game. He had no reason to throw Smith down like a sack of potatoes. It was an easy call. And it came at a time when the Eagles were trying to get back in.”
Then there is “the rest of the story”. I think the ejection was warranted. He “hit”/“brushed” the guy in the face. No real choice but to boot him.
As for the Philly guy - he should be banned from the sidelines for at least the rest of the year. He has no business injecting himself into the fray. And that could have been a whole lot worse.
Finally, shame on Burkhart and Olson who made the guy out to be a hero. The comment should have been along the lines of : “that guy has no business jawing at Greenlaw or any other player. He should be ejected. At least. There is no place for that.”

Technically the same motion, but not as aggressive as Dre Greenlaw's tackle-and-throw.
As for the "Security Director"...the refs and the NFL's official statement claimed that there was no rule that applied to his conduct, but I would assert that his conduct is covered by Rule 13, section 1, article 1:
RULE 13. NON-PLAYER CONDUCT

ARTICLE 1. NON-PLAYER FOULS
There shall be no unsportsmanlike conduct by a substitute, coach, attendant, or any other non-player (entitled to sit on a team’s bench) during any period or timeout (including between halves).
Tubby's conduct, like Dre's, was unsportsmanlike. Penalty is unsportsmanlike conduct, technically assessed to the Philadelphia coach...the same coach who lobbied for Dre's ejection. Agree, Tubby should be banned and suspended without pay for the rest of the year. I would hope the NFL expresses and clarifies their official position on sideline attendees who are neither player nor coach and their conduct interacting with players of the other team.

From the postgame statement by the head ref, my understanding is that the refs in real time could have called an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the Eagles for the security director's conduct, but didn't. What happened was that upon video review, the league office recommended action for the altercation. Due to a quirk in the rules, on video review they couldn't call a penalty on the Eagles for the non-player's conduct, but they could still eject him.
Greenlaw's second penalty (unsportsmanlike conduct) was called only after video review too. The rules do allow that.

I wonder if the NFL will discipline the Eagles and/or DiSandro. In October, the NFL sent a memo to teams following a weekend of play that included pregame scuffles between the 49ers and Cleveland Browns and between the Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Chargers. The league told teams in that memo that they “are responsible for the conduct of their players and other club personnel throughout the game day period” and could be “subject to a forfeiture of draft selections and/or significant fine” for violations.
Didn't realize that the 49ers had the NFL's longest drought of running backs failing to have 1,000+ yard rushing seasons. Until Christian McCaffrey cracked the 1,000 yard rushing mark this past weekend, no 49er running back since Frank Gore in 2014 had topped 1,000 single season yards.

Roger Goodell doesn't like the Eagles' signature play, the "tush push." Neither do the Giants, Commanders or Cowboys, all of whom are represented on the NFL rules committee. Look for the NFL rules committee to eliminate it for next year.

The NFL needs to take some sort of action on "Big Dom" if only because it would encourage teams to hire some agitator as a putative security guy (or whatever) just to see if he can get a rise out of the opponent's top guys.

Section 1, Article 8 of the NFL rule book exists for a reason. It states:
Non-player personnel of a club (e.g., management personnel, coaches, trainers, equipment personnel) are prohibited from making unnecessary physical contact with or directing abusive, threatening, or insulting language or gestures at opponents, game officials, or representatives of the League.

Apparently DiSandro and Greenlaw exchanged words before the game started as well. NFL Gameday Operations has jurisdiction over sideline personnel, and has launched an investigation, most likely supervised by Chris Palmer, who would be the hearing officer for any discipline imposed on the team.
I don't know of any relevant parallel in recent history. Former Jets strength coach Sal Alosi tripped Dolphins special teams gunner Nolan Carroll in 2010, and he was suspended by the team for the rest of the season and the playoffs and fined $25,000. If the Eagles proactively disciplined DiSandro, they could make it sting less than if they forced the NFL's hand. Mike Fisher (Dallas Cowboys media, writing for Sports Illustrated) is calling for a lifetime ban against DiSandro:
