Good points and I hope you are right. women’s bb is my number one sport of interest at Stanford. In the “old days” there were not that many strong WBB schools i the US and there were not big NIL opportunities. It if I had to bet, I’d bet on much tougher recruiting and roster attrition via the portal . I just don’t think we can be a UCONN ..

Totally agree. The environment isn't the same as in the 90's or 2000's. I think if we don't end up in a power 5 conference that it is going to hit the roster hard for all sports and future recruiting even harder. Playing against the best regularly became a draw for players coming to the PAC.

The reasons to play the best will apply to other schools. Don’t you think the top WBB teams in the western half of the country will be trying to find spots on Tara’s dance card??
IMO, the biggest problem would be to be stuck in a conference with many weak teams on the other side of the country. More travel, less practice. Imagine conference tournament games that are 2000 miles away.

I must confess that I have no real feel for what influences top teams to schedule. I had always assumed that playing a top team in what we all felt and argued was the toughest WBB conference in the country was a factor in attracting top teams. But even if they weren’t attracted, you still played three or four top ten teams twice a year in your own conference. Now these teams will be in other conferences having to play conference games. Their time, interest and need to play Stanford wouldn’t seem to be as great.
I am pretty sure that playing Fresno State, Utah State , Santa Clara and UNLV or whom ever you can get won’t be as big a deal to recruits as playing UCLA, Utah, Arizona , Oregon and Oregon State on a home and home basis. The “Tara Factor” is nice for salutes and awards dinner but no coach is going to disadvantage her program just to say thank you to her. Maybe they should but they won’t.
It’s possible that when Iowa, Indiana and the like come out .west to play in LA or the Northwest they will add a third game but I doubt it.
So no, on balance, you won’t have anywhere near as good a schedule in 2025 as you had this past year or next year. And I doubt it will be as good as you would have in the ACC.

Really hoping that Bosgana's development and confidence have grown in the off season, resulting in her joining the starting five. IF she has truly developed, you have a 6'2 physical guard who can shoot and likes contact would do wonders in taking defensive pressure off Jump (and indirectly) Brink. That would be a formidable lineup.
Complete agreement with stopandpop re Bosgana, whose evolution could be the difference between being an excellent team and a final four team this year. As for her European tournament, do you have any links to box scores or stories, Bob?

It's always been tough for Stanford WBB to attrack teams to come to Stanford.
So agree with mudhead it'll be much tougher in the future unless Stanford is in a Power league.

I deleted them when the tourament ended BL82. However she averaged 19 ppg and about 7 rebounds. She was the team's leading scorer and if not the tournaments then close. Her shooting wasn't great but it appeared the team depended on her a lot so maybe many were tough well guraded shots.
Stavi averaged a bout 4 ppg.
Mod could we please combine the WBB 2023-24 treads?

Bosgana played for both the Greece Women’s Senior Team in the 2023 FIBA Women’s European Championship in June and then the 2023 FIBA U20 Women’s European Championship Division B that ended last Sunday. She played limited minutes in two games during the Senior tournament.
You can find her stats for the U20 tournament here:

Very encouraging stats in the FIBA except by far most turnovers. Tara will say "don't do that".

No return game to Creighton. We are not on their non-conference schedule.
So back to back weekends to start the year we have Indiana and then Duke in November. I'm guessing both will be ESPN games.

Wow. Other than the COVID year, that will be the first time in decades we have not played Tennessee, I believe. A shame to see that tradition--dating to the Jennifer Azzi years--bite the dust.
But there seem to be no traditions in college sports too sacred to break.

Does anyone want to hazard a guess as to how basketball games will be broadcast? We still travel back to PA for the occasional home game, but are dependent on broadcast for watching other games. Last year the coverage was the best ever - we paid for a Sling subscription, which picked up Pac-12 conference games and included ESPN and other network coverage. This is all a memory now - but is there any speculation as to what Stanford will cobble together? A substandard Pac-12 broadcast?

Look at WVB schedule for a hint. Why would you think substandard ? Et it’s great as usual
