What a gut check! Was it too early a start? Stanford teams will have to get used to that :-(.
I was beginning to wonder in my mind how this great set of players wasn't playing as well as expected.
But then, things started clicking, and boy did they.
Great match.
And, I did appreciate the announcing.

That comeback was a thing of beauty. Goes a long ways to restoring my love affair with Stanford sports.

#3 Florida goes down to #1 Wisconsin, 2-3,
with the Badgers also rallying from 2 sets down
to win the last 3 sets as the Gators
played the final 3/12 sets without their AA setter
STUCKY, who went down during the 2nd set
and never returned. Most Volleytalkers felt that
the Gators could have swept the Badgers
had STUCKY not gotten injured.

Next match is on Tuesday at Cal who is 11-0 in non-conference play.

I suspect the win today combined with the Nebraska loss and Floridas loss today means we are either four or five in the rankings. More importantly, the win keeps,us in the running for a top four slot at tournament selection time. A loss today would have put our ceiling at five.
Obviously this was a very big one. And o e that showed a lot of guts

Great road comeback win. This team has moxy. Love to see a Stanford team go into a hostile arena and execute a miraculous comeback win in front of thousands of opponent's fans.

I'm the jinx for WVB so far this year: the two games I've attended were the two losses.

The women finally looked like themselves from set 3 on. Nice bounce back for Rubin.

With
#4 Stanford's comeback win on the road against #5 Louisville,
it currently has a foothold on one of the 4 NCAA regional hosting rights.
But with fellow PAC12ers
#6 Oregon and
#7 WSU closely lurking behind,
whoever
among these 3 wins the PAC12 will most likely eventually
automatically get to host one of the NCAA regionals.
OOC Body of Work vs CURRENT (as of 9/18/2023) Top 25:
#4 Stanford:
L vs. #3 Florida (0-3)
W @ #9 Texas (3-0)
W vs. #21 Ohio State (3-0)
W vs. #12 Minnesota (3-1)
L vs. #2 Nebraska (1-3)
W @ #5 Louisville (3-2)
#6 Oregon:
L vs. #12 Minnesota (2-3)
W vs. #21 Ohio State (3-1)
W @ #8 Pittsburgh (3-2)
#7 WSU:
L @ #5 Louisville (0-3)
W vs. #10 BYU (3-1)
W @ #18 Baylor (3-1)
W @ #9 Texas (3-1)
It's also worth mentioning that 4 other PAC 12 teams
have current honorable mention AVCA rankings:
#26 Arizona State
#28 USC
#31 UCLA
#32 Washington
The PAC 12 will definitely be a bloodbath!

Perhaps, perhaps not. There are 20 matches remaining this season for Stanford and its P12 opponents (over 2/3 of the schedule) and a comparable number for teams in other conferences. Let's come back to this thought in about 2 months.
While it's always preferable to play at home, hosting a regional last year was not enough for Stanford to advance to the Final Four.

Cal is 11-0. Will tonight be Cal's first loss or will they run the table this season?
