Btw, this is the first Super Regional that Stanford has ever won! The previous two trips to the World Series were

I didn't think Duke using the same starting pitcher from the first game was a good idea.  If she was overwhelmingly dominant I could see it.  But she isn't at that level and Stanford batters got to see her yesterday.

I completely agree SF. I was stunned when I saw Curd starting over Wright. And Wright wasn't even the 
first reliever off the bench, though Lillie Walker is a very good reliever for Duke. 

I think Marisa Young is a great coach, but I thought she made several mistakes in this series. Stanford, as the better team, won, but I also think Coach Allister and her staff outcoached Duke's staff, in (large) part by not overmanaging the game.

It is still stunning (and I remember the conversation back when Stanford was ranked #1 RPI in March and the potential implications
regarding a top 8 seed) that Stanford will be competing for a national championship at the World Series. 

Now, that path will likely start with the overwhelming favorites Oklahoma. However, I will point out that James Madison
stunned the Sooners in the opening game behind star pitcher Odicci Alexander (who is NiJaree's major influence as a pitcher, as pointed out on the broadcast today) 
in the first game of the World Series two years ago. Although Oklahoma was able to fight back through the loser's bracket
and win two off of JMU in the national semifinals, I think getting OU early (because Stanford or any team will have to beat
Oklahoma at least once to win a national championship IMO) is advantageous as far as that matchup with the Sooners.

I expect and imagine Canady would get the ball against the Sooners; the game plan for beating the Sooners would be exceptional pitching and enough offense (3-4 runs at least) to win.

And while OU's offense is certainly better than ours, the argument for Stanford softball to win a national championship centers around this pitching and defense, and I believe the performance in the regionals and supers has highlighted our rotation as the best in the nation.

Stanford will face No. 1 Oklahoma in its first game in OKC. The Week 1 matchup between the Cardinal and the Sooners featured both teams starting their #3 pitchers (Krause vs. Storako). Still think Canady gets the ball for Stanford; will be curious to see whether Jordy Bahl or Nicole May gets the ball for the Sooners. As Clemson, whose offense was previously scuffling, showed today, OU is certainly not unbeatable in the circle.

Is it correct that depending on todays games, three Pac 12 teams will be in final 8?  It seems to me that winning the first game is very important which would seem to call for Canady to get the ball.  Vawter is a fine pitcher, but Oklahoma seems more likely to hit her pitching style than Canady's.  I would think you would do all you can to stay out of the losers bracket as long as you can.  If we somehow get a big lead by the 4th or 5th inning then maybe pull Canady to keep her pitch count down.  But then Allister does not seemed inclined to try and fine tune her pitching rotation.
I am looking forward to watching the series.

Pitch count in softball is not as important as in baseball. Despite espn showing the pitch count.

I agree, Canady will start game one and will likely pitch the entire game if the game is close. Oklahoma’s batters are aggressive and I hope they will swing (and miss) on Canady’s potent rise ball.

I also believe Canady will start the first game.  At this stage of the season she has to be considered Stanford's #1 pitcher.

The date will be June 1st (this coming Thursday), but time not yet. That likely will be announced either today or at the latest tomorrow, once Super Regional play has concluded.

Yes, Utah can join Stanford and Washington in the World Series. Utah currently leading 4-1 in the win or go home Game 3 of their Super in SLC.

 If both Utah and Northwestern win, that’s 3 teams from Pac12, 2 from Big12, 1 from ACC, 1 from Big10 and only 1 from the mighty (cough) SEC

Utah and Alabama claim the final two spots in the World Series.

On Stanford's side of the bracket, aside from Oklahoma, are the two SEC teams in OKC: Tennessee, who
won both the regular season and tournament championships, and Alabama, who took advantage of 
a favorable seeding and some timely hitting. 

Stanford's contest against Oklahoma has been announced for 11:30am PT on ESPN on Thursday.

Stanford and Oklahoma will be Game 2 out of 4 in the opening round, following the all SEC matchup
of Tennessee and Alabama.

An aside which underscores how important seeding/matchups are: Stanford are the only road team to advance out of Super Regionals, and one of only two non top 8 seeds (Utah advancing in part thanks to UCLA's historic collapse) to make the World Series.

As long as Stanford keeps winning, they will have a day off between games until the championship series.

Canady could start all those games with Wawter waiting in relief. The pitching is doable, here's hoping for enough hitting to get 3-4 runs per game.

Did the team fly directly from North Carolina to Oklahoma?  Or did they fly back to Stanford and then are flying to Oklahoma tomorrow?  Being the home team would have made things easier.
