Although I'm a PONY League guy, I'll throw out a couple questions about a timely topic, the Little League World Series.
1) Who is the only player to play on winning teams in both the LLWS and the MLB World Series?
2) Who are the only 3 players to play in the LLWS, the College World Series, AND the MLB World Series? (None of them are the answer to #1)

RE: Sports trivia thread 2023 - BobK - 08-12-2023

Conforto is one of the answers. It was on a Giants game recently

RE: Sports trivia thread 2023 - BobK - 08-12-2023

Per Phogge first little leaguer to the major leagues Joey Jay

Viratek is one of only two catchers to have caught four no-hitters.

Conforto & Varitek are correct.  Third is Ed Vosberg.
The winner of both LLWS & MLBWS played for the 2012 & 2014 Giants. His LL team represented Coquivacoa, Venezuela.

If you mean as a ballplayer, my guess would be Cliff Lee

RE: Sports trivia thread 2023 - BobK - 08-14-2023

Not Lee yes lol a ball player

RE: Sports trivia thread 2023 - BobK - 08-14-2023

The answer is Tom Brady.

OK Phooge didn't like this one so here's his latest

Five members of the 1951 Yankees were born in SF. Also a coach. Another was born in Berkeley and another in Mill Valley. Name them. Another was born in the Northwest but graduated from a San Francisco high school.

Extra credit for their HS's.

Billy Martin, proud feisty son of Oakland.

I think DiMaggio was still a Yankee in 1951.

Gil McDougald?

Frankie Crosetti was the coach, I think. Or Tony Lazzeri.

I'll say the high schools were Lowell, Tech, Galileo, St. Ignatius, Riordan and Sacred Heart. And California.

RE: Sports trivia thread 2023 - BobK - 08-14-2023

Yes Crosetti
Yes McDougald
Billy Martin born in Berkeley
I should have corrected Phogge as Joe D was born in Martinez. But close enough so yes

Yikes.  Billy Martin was a native son of West Berkeley (the west side of San Pablo Av.)   He graduated from Berkeley High.

Ok two of the Yankees born in SF include an outstanding running back and a hero fighter pilot

Running back has to be Jackie Jensen.

Which of these catchers had the most career walk-off home runs?

Johnny Bench
Yogi Berra
Bruce Bochy
Carlton Fisk
Brian Johnson
Buster Posey
Pudge Rodriguez

Bonus question: Bruce Bochy hit one walk off home run, in 1985. Who was the opposing pitcher?
