Giants sure do like them catchers. They claimed Jose Godoy off waivers from the Mariners. 40 plate appearances last year. Hit .285 in AAA Tacoma, has been improving last few years.
Seiya Suzuki has had interest from a dozen teams. Top five are mariners, Giants, Dodgers, Cubs and Red SOx. Nikkan Sports (Japanese outlet) named Seattle, SF, Chicago and Boston as most likely.
Dodgers making a run at All Star 1B Freddie Freeman.

Watching this season the 1.5 games or so played by Trey Lance I believe he will be effective and I don't know why the team seems so hesitant to let him play QB.

James Daniels of the Bears might be interesting. He's just 24 years old, run blocking specialist, has started 48 of 54 games in past four years, 6'4", 327 lbs, 2nd round pick in 2018, rated 26th of 68 guards in pass blocking, 10th best out of 70 guards in run blocking, has stats in the 90%+percentile among all guards. Before the Jets took Tomlinson, they targeted Daniels.

On the other side of the ball, Niners signed former KC Chiefs CB Charvarious Ward to a 3 year deal. $42 mms., $26.7 mms. guaranteed. Signing Ward over Gilmore means they're thinking long term. All three of their CBs are under age 26.
Niners also extended DL Kevin Givens, RB JaMycal Hasty, DL Maurice Hurst, OL Colton McKivitz, QB Nate Sudfield, OL Jake Brendel.
Niners signed 11 to Reserve/Future contracts including Stanford's Curtis Robinson and Connor Wedington..
Niners lost DJ Jones to a 3 year deal with the Broncos. Justin reid, 3 year deal with the Chiefs.

I'm telling ya, teams know that the 'Niners are going to have to release Jimmy (cap hit better than paying full salary). And his surgery mucked things up a bit, too, for the 'Niners. Bottom line: SF will be lucky to get a R3 pick for Jimmy . . . and they'd take less at this point. BTW, who would you rather QB your team: Teddy Bridgewater or Jameis or Jimmy? There's more competition out there for QB spots than many think. My prediction (if SF gets no bites, which is possible): Jimmy picks a team where path to PT is reasonable, gets way less $$ than he would under current deal with SF, and then may play pretty well for said team (assuming he is healthy). Jimmy G.'s health is the big wild card - when he's fully healthy, he is a near-excellent QB; when not, he is very pedestrian.
Pittsburgh picking up Trubisky was a great move. Think he will thrive with the Steelers. He has the raw tools, and his mileage is very low.

Signing Ward probably means that they won’t sign K Williams.
They just signed OLB and spec team ace Burks from Green Bay. Speculation is they will not sign Greenlaw and will go long term with Aziz Al S.
