Folks, I dragged my wife and kids to this game, put them in Stanford gear and everything....
At the overall program level, obviously things aren't great. But getting shellacked by a mediocre team has disappointing effects on the micro level in my household in terms of trying to share Stanford fandom with my kids.
But, uh, first half was fun? Ugh.

I gave up all hope on this season about 8 minutes into the first Colorado game.
It was clear at a glance from the Buffs record that they were absolutely a notch below mediocre. It also was clear that they had a better group of players and coaching than Stanford.

WBB was on ESPN primetime, a top 25 tilt, featuring two top 3 WNBA lottery picks, and a team that won the natty two years ago. 64 comments seems right on the money. What am I missing?

Coughed up another one. Led ASU by 6 - 10 points most of the game but went 5 min without scoring at the end and missed a couple of ft opportunities.

I was at Maples tonight. We definitely couged it. We had double digit leads both halves, and we were unable to hold on to them.
Frustrating to watch us slowly blow it. Silva was terrible against the press. Harrison tried to do fancy passes at the end which led to turnovers.
ASU was a very quick team, but we had the size and seemed to top them in just about every statistical category except the one that counts the most at the end (points scored).

Indeed. For the final couple of possessions--despite the fact that ASU was pressing like crazy--Haase pulled O'Connell for M. Jones, somehow thinking that going without a PG was our best possible option??? The results were predictable--we could not generate any good shots on the last few possessions.
I count seven more regular-season games and then our opening-round loss on the P-12 tourney before the Haaseketball era finally comes to end (I pray).

Ah, thanks for that update--I didn't notice the injury. Maybe that explains last night.
Of course, that doesn't explain the previous 6 1/2 years of mediocre results...

I know some of you were not crazy about Zaire Williams during his small season with the Card. I liked him and wished him good success with the Grizzlies. He was surprisingly good last year, but this year has been hampered by injuries and a couple other wings passing him by. He has been sent to the G League to get playing time. Hope it works out.

We went to Maples on Thursday and it was painful. Stanford played like a team that didn't want to lose - Haase turtled it! ASU and Hurley played like a team that wanted to win. They brought grit and determination through the end. Way too many turnovers by Raynaud and other's. ASU keyed on Ingram at the end and when he made a solid pass to Raynaud under the hoop, he wasn't ready for the catch and lay in. His hoops IQ is not there yet, unfortunately. Spencer Jones kept us close with great shooting, but the other Jones was a net negative in the second half. Sad to see this team so complacent. No Mas Haase.
